Was “The Great Commission” FULFILLED in the 1st Century??? The Holy Bible teaches an affirmative YES!!!

Remember, The Bible was NOT written TO US in 2013 but FOR US.

What standard would one use to determine if "The Great Commission" was fulfilled?  Would one check the 1st century "Daily Jerusalem Newspaper?"  1st century Almanac?  1st century historic accounts of Josephus?  Roman records?  NO.  The Christians ultimate standard on spiritual matters is The Holy Word of God!  And what does the Holy Word of God say about "The Great Commission?"  It says that it was FULFILLED.  Btw, the phrase "Great Commission" appears NO where in Scripture.  It's just a romanticized idea created by futurist Christians who believe they will bring about the return of Christ by their evangelism.  I used to be a missionary with Hawaii YFC and this was one of the messages I heard using Matthew 24:14.

1)
Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole [WORLD]  as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.  The word, "WORLD" as used in this passage is the Greek word, "Oikuoumene" which means known world or Roman world like in Luke 2:1In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered).

FULFILLED!
Romans 10:18 But I ask, have they not heard? Indeed they have, for “Their voice has gone out to all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world.”

2)
Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nationsand then the end will come.
Matthew28:19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations,  baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

FULFILLED!
Romans 16:26 but has now been disclosed and through the prophetic writings has been made known to all nations, according to the command of the eternal God, to bring about the obedience of faith
What age was Christ and His disciples in?  The Old Covenant Age/ Being born under The Law.
Gal 4:4 But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law,

3)
Mark 16:15 And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.

FULFILLED!
Romans1:8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is proclaimed in all the world.

4)
Mark 16:15 And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.

FULFILLED!
Colossians 1:6 which has come to you, as indeed in the whole world it is bearing fruit and increasing—as it also does among you, since the day you heard it and understood the grace of God in truth,
Colossians 1:23 if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister.

5)
Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

FULFILLED!
Acts 9:31 the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria had peace and was being built up. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it multiplied.
Colossians 1:23 if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister.
Romans 10:18 But I ask, have they not heard?Indeed they have, for “Their voice has gone out to all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world.”

Jesus said that the things he states between Matthew 24:4-34, would be fulfilled in His generation (this generation). This included "The Great Commission" of v14.

MATT 24:Jesus left the temple and was going away, when his disciples came to point out to him the buildings of the temple. 2 But he answered them, “You see all these, do you not? Truly, I say to you, there will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down.” 3As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?

14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

34 Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place.

***What are all these things that were suppose to take place before "this generation" passed? Read v4-34. Well, one of those things was The Great Commission or better yet, The Gospel of the kingdom being proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations.

If one goes through Matthew 24, the "you" in the passage is referring to the 1st century disciples (see v3) and not "you" reading the passage in the 21st century. lol.  It's always good to identify the antecedent of "you," and to get the audience relevance and historic context: who, what, where, when, why, how...  This will make one's hermeneutic (interpretation skills) take off.

W.H.O.INTERPRETS THE BIBLE

W ords of the text, in context. All words have meaning. God’s words communicate God’s thoughts to us! Genre-The type of literature. Accordingly particular rules of interpretation will apply to each kind of writing; Historical Narrative, poetry and wisdom, or prophetic writings.

Historic setting.  The time of the writing, the writer and his purpose, and those to whom the message was addressed must be considered! *Audience relevance is so important because the Bible was NOT written “to” us in 21st century but “for” us. Many readers are very egotistic in that they constantly read themselves into the text.

O ther Bible Texts. The Bible has unity of doctrine. We must compare Scripture with Scripture to seethe whole picture (This is known as the analogy of faith put forth and taught by The Protestant Reformers.).

Here’s a great acronym for interpreting Scripture: HAT HAT
H ermeneutics
A udience Relevance
T ime Statements
H istoric Context
A pocalyptic Language
T ypology

Remember, The Bible was NOT written TO you in the 21st century but TO certain people like Timothy, Titus; and churches, The Church in Rome, Corinth, Galatia...  The Bible was written FOR us in that the Truths of the Gospel, sin, God, Yeshua are relevant.

The Bible was written during a specific Historic context.
