What did Jesus write in the dust? by Tuese

What did Jesus write in the dust?

October 3, 2010 at 11:43pm
John 8:1-11
1And at dawn he came again to the temple,
 2and all the people were coming unto him, and having sat down, he was teaching them;
3and the scribes and the Pharisees bring unto him a woman having been taken in adultery, and having set her in the midst,
4they say to him, `Teacher, this woman was taken in the very crime -- committing adultery,
5and in the law, Moses did command us that such be stoned; thou, therefore, what dost thou say?'
6and this they said, trying him, that they might have to accuse him. And Jesus, having stooped down, with the finger he was writing on the ground,
7and when they continued asking him, having bent himself back, he said unto them, `The sinless of you -- let him first cast the stone at her;'
8and again having stooped down, he was writing on the ground,
9and they having heard, and by the conscience being convicted, were going forth one by one, having begun from the elders -- unto the last; and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
10And Jesus having bent himself back, and having seen no one but the woman, said to her, `Woman, where are those -- thine accusers? did no one pass sentence upon thee?'
11and she said, `No one, Sir;' and Jesus said to her, `Neither do I pass sentence on thee; be going on, and no more sin.'

Jeremiah 17:13 O LORD, the hope of Israel, all who forsake you will be put to shame. Those who turn away from you will be written in the dust because they have forsaken the LORD, the spring of living water.

Were not those who forsook The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit the unbelieving Jews?  Did not these unbelieving Jews turn away from God?

Other Passages describing "The finger of God."
Exodus 8:19 and the scribes say unto Pharaoh, `It [is] the finger of God;' and the heart of Pharaoh is strong, and he hath not hearkened unto them, as Jehovah hath spoken.
Exodus 31:18 And He giveth unto Moses, when He finisheth speaking with him in mount Sinai, two tables of the testimony, tables of stone, written by the finger of God.
Deuteronomy 9:10 and Jehovah giveth unto me the two tables of stone written with the finger of God, and on them according to all the words which Jehovah hath spoken with you in the mount, out of the midst of the fire, in the day of the assembly.
Luke 11:20 But if it is by the finger of God that I cast out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.

***It is my conviction that the lying conniving unbelieving, prideful, disobedient Christ-crucifying Jews of Jesus' Day were getting their names written in the dust.  Just my guess.
