Jesus curses the Fig Tree/ Fig Tree branches becomes tender and puts out its leaves
by Tuese Ahkiong

Just some quick thoughts on Matt 21:18-22.  Zionist dispensationalists who have infiltrated the Christian ranks teach that the fig tree is symbolic of Israel and that national physical Israel today is God's Chosen people.  Jesus Cursed the Fig Tree and states no fruit ever will come from it again.

MATTHEW 21:18-21  In the morning, as he was returning to the city, he became hungry. 19 And seeing a fig tree by the wayside, he went to it and found nothing on it but only leaves. And he said to it, May no fruit ever come from you again!” And the fig tree withered at once.

20 When the disciples saw it, they marveled, saying, “How did the fig tree wither at once?” 21 And Jesus answered them, “Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen. 22 And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.”

18- the city is Jerusalem
19- the fig tree is symbolic of national Israel.  Jesus CURSES the fig tree by saying "May no fruit EVER come from you again!"
20- disciples saw, marveled and questioned Jesus.
21- Jesus is speaking to His disciples there and then.  They are the "you" that Jesus is speaking to and not us in the 21st century.  The disciples faith would bring Israel down like the fig tree.  Jesus said they could say to "this mountain," not any ordinary mountain but the mountain they were on.

Jerusalem was built on Mount Moriah.  Matthew 21-25 is talking about judgment that will fall upon unbelieving, covenant breaking Israel.
  1. GENESIS 22:2  He said, “Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.”
  2. 2 CHRONICLES 3:1  [ Solomon Builds the Temple ] Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where the LORD had appeared to David his father, at the place that David had appointed, on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.

MATTHEW 18:5 “Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, 6 but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.

REVELATION 8:8 The second angel blew his trumpet, and something like a great mountain, burning with fire, was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea became blood.

-Revelation is about The revealing of Jesus as LORD, the certificate of divorce/ judgment/execution/divorce of Israel, and marriage of Christ and His bride which took place in 70 A.D.

This parallels the Exodus typology of Israel coming out of bondage from Egypt and into the promise land after 40 years in the desert.  While in the desert the Jews were supernaturally provided for by The Lord with miracles, food, water, clothing, shoes…  As soon as they came into the promise land these miracles ceased.  The city of Jericho was a big obstacle.  Once removed, the Jews began entering the land.

The church was in an exodus from the 1st covenant and into the New.  There was a 40 year gap from 30-70A.D.  During this time the church was blessed by God with the supernatural charismatic gifts but as soon as the Temple was removed these gifts ceased.

22- The Apostles’ prayers were answered.  Jerusalem fell in 70AD by the Romans.

GALATIANS 4:28-31 Now you, brothers, like Isaac, are children of promise. 29 But just as at that time he who was born according to the flesh persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, so also it is now. 30 But what does the Scripture say? “Cast out the slave woman and her son, for the son of the slave woman shall not inherit with the son of the free woman.” 31 So, brothers, we are not children of the slave but of the free woman.

**The Old Covenant Jewish Economy has passed away based upon The Word of God.  Zionism Dispensationalism is trying to deceive Christians that Jews today, even if they hate Christ, are still God's chosen people.  Don't believe the zionism trash, believe the Bible.

The Fig Tee branches become tender and puts out its leaves
Zionist Dispensationalist use the following passage to teach a future restoration of National Israel even though Christ cursed the fig tree. Just a note, every time a phrase is used does not mean that it is to be translated the same way.  The context of the passage determines its translation.  Christ, in this context is merely using the fig tree's growth to teach the nearness of His return, which took place in 70AD and NOT national Israel in 1948.

MATTHEW 24:32-34
“From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near.   33 So also, when you see all these things, you know that he is near, at the very gates.34 Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place.

MARK 13:28 “From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near. 29 So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that he is near, at the very gates. 30 Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. 31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

LUKE 21:29 And he told them a parable: “Look at the fig tree, and A L L  THE  TREES. 30 As soon as they come out in leaf, you see for yourselves and know that the summer is already near. 31 So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that the kingdom of God is near. 32 Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all has taken place. 33 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

**In Matthew and Mark, Christ mentions just the fig tree but in Luke, He mentions ALL THE TREES.  Zionist Dispensationalists say from the Matthew and Mark passages is National Israel returning to the land.  Hello!!!  The Luke passage says ALL THE TREES!  How do they interpret all the trees? crickets.  If it refers to all the nations then there's problems.

**Why not used the simplest interpretation.  Around 33 AD, Christ is speaking to His disciples about His return.  He gives them signs, specifically the destruction of the temple as to when it will take place (Matthew 24:4-34) and says it will happen in their generation.  Well, it happened.  Therefore, there is no need to make up all this Jews returning to the land nonsense; Jews becoming a nation in 1948 is a fulfillment of Bible prophecy nonsense.  Zionist Dispensationalism contradicts what Christ and The Apostles said about National Israel which was it being cast out.  That took place in 70AD.  Zionist Dispensationalism has led to the deaths of millions because of its wrong interpretation of Scripture.  Millions of Christians have been deceived in supporting zionism because of its false doctrines.

MATTHEW 21:42-44 (ESV)

42 Jesus said to them (Pharisees), “Have you never read in the Scriptures:
“‘The stone that the builders rejected
    has become the cornerstone;
this was the Lord's doing,
and it is marvelous in our eyes’?
43 Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people producing its fruits. 44 And the one who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; and when it falls on anyone, it will crush him.”

**Christians are the people that produced the fruit of the Kingdom.
