SATAN 101

Satan simply means ADVERSARY.

Devil is SLANDERER, ACCUSER.

Did you know that God is referred to as a satan in 2Samuel 24:1 and I Chronicles 21:1?

2 Samuel 24:1 Again THE ANGER OF THE LORD was aroused AGAINST ISRAEL, and He MOVED DAVID AGAINST them to say, “Go, NUMBER ISRAEL and Judah.”

1 Chronicles 21:1 Now Satan stood up AGAINST ISRAEL, and MOVED DAVID to NUMBER ISRAEL.

And there standeth up an adversary against Israel, and persuadeth David to number Israel,

@@Sad how poor translation and tradition created a fictional being called “Satan!!!”

Also, did you know that satan refers to the angel of the lord in Numbers 22:22, 32?

NUM 22:22 But God's anger was kindled because he went, and the angel of the Lord took his stand in the way as his adversary. Now he was riding on the donkey, and his two servants were with him.

The Hebrew word for "Adversary" used of the angel of the lord is SATAN.

Num 22:32 And the Angel of the Lord said to him, “Why have you struck your donkey these three times? Behold, I have come out to stand against you, because your way is perverse before Me.

The Hebrew word for "to withstand thee" OR "to stand against you" used of the Angel of the Lord is SATAN.

Was Jesus telling Peter that he was the evil made up entity Satan? Or that Peter was being an adversary towards his mission to die for the sins of his people? Or something else?

Matthew 16:21-23

21 From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.

22 Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. “Never, Lord!” he said. “This shall never happen to you!”

23 Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”
