We all approach Scripture or any piece of literature with a certain set of assumptions developed and learned from our upbringing, family, religious culture, education, community, media… These biases are brought to Scripture as a lens by which we interpret the Bible accurately or not.

*Audience relevance is so important because the Bible was NOT written “to” us in 21st century or “for” us. Many readers are very egotistic in that they constantly read themselves into the text or insert themselves into Israel’s redemptive story.

In John 3:16

Israel is still THE WORLD (covenant world of Israel) that YHWH loves exclusively! The context is Nicodemus, a LEADER and TEACHER of ISRAEL coming to Christ at night for acknowledging Yeshua’s signs identify Him as from YHWH! Yeshua scolds Nicodemus for being a TEACHER OF ISRAEL and not knowing about being born again! Only Israel was dead to God because of their law breaking and needed to be born again! Christ then uses the story of Moses lifting up the snake and those of Israel who were bitten and looked to it and believed were healed. So, too, Christ says those of Israel who looked to Him lifted up would be saved; have eternal life. It’s an Israel only story!

Israel became like the pagan nations; NOT GOD's PEOPLE. The promise of regathering Israel would begin with Christ and The Gospel that brings gentile pagan Israelites back into the fold, where they are called, “GOD'S PEOPLE, MY LOVED ONES, CHILDREN OF THE LIVING GOD!”

***The same group of People, Israel, in Hosea that were called NOT GOD'S PEOPLE are the same people who are called CHILDREN OF THE LIVING GOD in Romans.

Israel was the ONLY NATION under THE LAW of YHWH. Only Israel who was under the law could biblically sin! Only Israel was called "NOT MY PEOPLE!" And Only Israel was called "CHILDREN OF THE LIVING GOD!"

How can the fullness of gentiles coming in bring about ALL ISRAEL being saved???

The fullness of gentiles that came in were the scattered dispersed lost sheep of the HOUSE OF ISRAEL that became like the pagan Greek, Samaritan gentiles. It makes better sense that the gentiles which just means nations, were the northern scattered kingdom Israel.

Who is in this covenant that Paul is speaking about that gets their sin taken away?

Together with Judah in the South, Israel NK in the nations coming in, brings about ALL ISRAEL BEING SAVED!

In Jeremiah, YHWH PROPHESIZES that He will send for many fishers of men. Yeshua calls His fishers of men, who were His Apostles and disciples empowered by Holy Spirit on a great commission to rescue the lost sheep. They were God's special forces that could not fail in bringing in God’s elect remnant of Israel and they did not! They completed the mission by 70AD.

ONLY ISRAEL is YHWH’s SHEEP that got LOST! All throughout the OT, YHWH calls Israel His sheep. Samoans, Mexicans, Russians... are never mentioned to be His sheep.

“My people have been lost sheep; their shepherds have led them astray and caused them to roam on the mountains. They wandered over mountain and hill and forgot their own resting place.

“‘For this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I myself will search for my sheep and look after them.

YHWH said that He Himself would search for His sheep. The NT opens with Yeshua stating He is The Good Shepherd who seeks and saves that which was lost, His sheep! And lays His life down for His sheep!

But He (Yeshua) answered and said, “I WAS SENT ONLY TO THE LOST SHEEP OF THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL.”

Sheep near (Judah) and far (Israel); those from the different fold are scattered Israel far off in the nations. Yeshua was in Judah speaking with the Jews. This is the parable of the prodigal son or lost younger brother (northern kingdom scattered in the pagan nations) brought back to the family in uniting the kingdom into one flock!

YHWH prophesied that He would scatter Israel into the nations where they will be like the idolatrous nations. He also promises to regather Israel in her latter/ last days.

DEUTERONOMY 4:27-31

27 And the Lord will scatter you among the peoples, and you will be left few in number among the nations where the Lord will drive you. 28 And there you will serve gods of wood and stone, the work of human hands, that neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell. 29 But from there you will seek the Lord your God and you will find him, if you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul.30 When you are in tribulation, and all these things come upon you in the LATTER DAYS, you will return to the Lord your God and obey his voice. 31 For the Lord your God is a merciful God.
