The Problems with “Free Will” philosophy that pervades the Christian Church: by Tuese Ahkiong

The Problems with “Free Will” philosophy that pervades the Christian Church:

June 6, 2011 at 12:17pm

For the last month I was subjected to hearing about a dozen of free willers misrepresent God with their Man-centered anti-Bible philosophy.  Here is my address of Free-will-ism.
  1. Free-will-ism conflicts with God’s Foreknowledge.  Since God knows everything, can man “freely” do otherwise?  Arminianism or “Free Will” thinking logically leads into open-theism.  They say God looks down the corridors of time to see who will pick Him.  God is therefore passively awaiting or needing to learn or find out who will choose Him.  Does anyone see a problem with God having to learn from his creature’s choice?  -Then there’s the issue of God’s election of a group of people before the world began.  Hello!  Can the creature “free will” itself into God’s election?  -Was Peter “free” not to deny Jesus 3x?  Was Judas “free” to not betray Christ?
  2. Free-will-ism believes that the supposed “free will” of the creature can overcome it’s own depravity, wicked heart, bondage and enslavement to sin, deadness in trespasses and sin, hatred and enmity of God, inability to understand spiritual matters, and is NOT in need of God’s Amazing Grace.  Does the “Free willer” INITIATE salvation or does Jesus, The Savior, The Author and Finisher of one's Faith?
  3. Free-will-ism is NOT Biblical but philosophical, emotional, man-centered, man-glorifying.  Yes, man has a will but is it free?  Can man freely will to fly?  Can she freely will not to sin ever again?  Can he freely will to stop aging?  Man’s nature limits his will.  The Bible describes man’s nature as wicked, evil, ah, just see point #2 above.   Therefore, unless, God changes a person’s nature (regeneration or being born again), they remain a dead person walking.  –Also, when we use the word “free,” we must ask, free from what?  Is man “free” from God?  The Arminian or free-willer will answer yes.  Hello!!!  It is in God one lives, breathes and has his being.  Apart from God sustaining His creation, it will perish.  So, to what degree is the creature free?  Didn’t God put you into your family?  Environment?  Messed-up/ blessed-up bringing?  Is it not God who gives abilities or disabilities?  So, to what degree is the creature “free” from His Creator?
  4. Free-will-ism misrepresents puppets and robots.  Free willers whine that “if” God is in control, then man is but a puppet or robot.   No, not a puppet or robot but BIBLICALLY, clay.  Deal with it!  The Potter decides what becomes of HIS clay and not the clay deciding what it will be.  -Essentially, "free will" thinking DOES NOT WANT TO submit to God’s Holy Word.  It imposes a foreign man-centered/pagan philosophy on The Bible regarding the nature of man.  It teaches that man has certain rights and entitlements that God is obligated to submit to.  It believes that in order for man to be truly human, man must be free from any influence of God.  Hello!  Can any free willer support this from Scripture?  -In regards to love being without compulsion, only a regenerated man CAN love God because it is God who gives man the ability by removing his deadness, enmity, sinfulness, hatred of God.  A Christian loves God with all his heart ONLY because God loved him first by removing the creature's enmity by grace alone and by granting him the gift of faith to believe in Jesus.
  5. "Free Will is an idol that people put before God. Some brethren (semi-pelagians/arminians) build their theology around the almighty will of man and not that of God. In terms of salvation, our arminian brethren believe that God's plans can be stifled by the free will of man. Additionally, realizing that the latter statement compromises the sovereignty of God (to an extent) they'll add into their belief system that God gave the gift of Free Will to man. I would ask our arminian/semi-pelagian brethren: where is that written in the Bible? -J.H." *This is a regular problem I have with free willers; they cannot support their view from Holy Scripture.
  6. Free-will-ism is illogical and unbiblical.  Why do free willers pray to God to save their non-believing friends or in other words, why do they ask God to change or violate a non-believer's "free-will" so that they believe upon Yeshua?  That ladies and gents is being INCONSISTENT!  Why the heck do free willers ask God to change a person's heart, when doing so is violating that non-believer's free will??
  7. Free-will-ism has a problem with evil.  The god of free willers is supposedly sovereign, all loving and all powerful, yet he cannot stop evil because man's free will is too powerful.  The God of The Bible is Sovereign, Holy, created evil and has His purpose for evil.
