PEACE,PEACE WHEN THERE IS NO PEACE
ByTuese Ahkiong

Whoproclaimed “Peace, Peace” in the OT when God declared judgment?
The Apostate Jews.

Whomurdered the prophets?
The Apostate Jews.

Whomurdered Yeshua and the NT saints?
The Apostate Jews.

Whorejected Yeshua teaching of judgment that would fall upon Yeshua’s generation?
The Apostate Jews.

In the OT,The Apostate Jews proclaimed peace when there was no peace.

Jeremiah6:13-15
“Forfrom the least to the greatest of them, everyone is greedy for unjust gain; andfrom prophet to priest,
everyonedeals falsely.
14They have healed the wound of my people lightly, saying,
‘Peace, peace,’
when there is no peace.
15  Were they ashamed when they committedabomination?  No, they were not atall ashamed; they did not know how to blush.  Therefore they shall fall among those who fall; at the timethat I punish them, they shall be overthrown,” says the Lord.

Jeremiah8:10-12
ThereforeI will give their wives to others and their fields to conquerors,
becausefrom the least to the greatest
everyoneis greedy for unjust gain;
fromprophet to priest, everyone deals falsely.
11They have healed the wound of my people lightly, saying,
‘Peace, peace,’
 when there is no peace.
12Were they ashamed when they committed abomination?  No, they were not at all ashamed; they did not know how toblush.  Therefore they shall fallamong the fallen; when I punish them, they shall be overthrown,
saysthe Lord.

Jeremiah14:13-14
ThenI said: “Ah, Lord God, behold, theprophets say to them, ‘You shall not see the sword, nor shallyou have famine, but I will give you assuredpeace in this place.’”
14And the Lord said to me: “Theprophets are prophesying lies in my name. I did not send them, nor did I command them or speak to them. They are prophesying to you a lyingvision, worthless divination, and the deceit of their own minds.

Jeremiah23:15-17
15Therefore thus says the Lord of hosts concerning the prophets:
“Behold,I will feed them with bitter food and give them poisoned water to drink, forfrom the prophets of Jerusalemungodliness has gone out into all the land.”
16Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Donot listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you, filling you withvain hopes. They speak visions of their own minds, not from the mouth of theLord. 17 They say continually to those who despise the word of the Lord, ‘Itshall be well with you’; and to everyone who stubbornly follows his own heart, they say, ‘No disaster shall come upon you.’”

Ezekiel13:10
Preciselybecause they have misled my people, saying, ‘Peace,’when there is no peace, and because, when the people build awall, these prophets smear it with whitewash,

Ezekiel13:16
theprophets of Israel who prophesied concerning Jerusalem and saw visions of peace for her, when therewas no peace, declares the Lord God.

Micah3:5
Thussays the Lord concerning the prophets who lead my people astray,
who cry “Peace” when they have something toeat, but declare war against him who puts nothing into their mouths.

*The “you” in the following passages isn’t you who’s reading this in 2014, it’sthe contemporaries of Christ in the 1st century, specifically theapostate jews. LOL.  Do your homeworkand look up the antecedent of each “you.”

Yeshua preached that the temple would bedestroyed in His generation.
The Apostate Jews hated on Yeshua for histeaching.  They gloried in theTemple as the symbol of God’s covenant with them.

Matt24
Jesusleft the temple and was going away, when his disciples came to point out to himthe buildings of the temple. 2 But he answered them, “YOU see all these, do YOU not? Truly, I say to you, there will not beleft here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down.”
3As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying,“Tell us, when will these thingsbe, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?” 4 AndJesus answered them, “See that no one leads YOU astray.

Matthew24:34
Truly, I say to you, this generation will notpass away until all these things take place.

Mark13
Andas he came out of the temple, one of his disciples said to him, “Look, Teacher, what wonderful stones and what wonderful buildings!” 2 And Jesus said to him, “Do you see these great buildings? Therewill not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down.”
3And as he sat on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter and James andJohn and Andrew asked him privately, 4 “Tellus, when will these things be, and what will be the sign when all these thingsare about to be accomplished?” 5 And Jesus began to say to them,“Seethat no one leads YOU astray.

Mark13:30
Truly, I say to you, this generation will notpass away until all these things take place.

Matthew26:60-62
butthey found none, though many false witnesses came forward. At last two cameforward 61 and said, “This mansaid, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to rebuild it in threedays.’” 62 And the high priest stood up and said, “Have YOU no answer to make? Whatis it that these men testify against YOU?”

Matthew27:39-42
Andthose who passed by derided him, wagging their heads 40 and saying, “You who would destroy the temple andrebuild it in three days, save yourself! If you are the Son ofGod, come down from the cross.” 41 So also the chief priests, with the scribesand elders, mocked him, saying, 42 “He saved others; he cannot save himself. Heis the King of Israel; let him come down now from the cross, and we willbelieve in him.

Mark15:29-30
Andthose who passed by derided him, wagging their heads and saying, “Aha! You who would destroy the temple andrebuild it in three days, 30 save yourself, and come down fromthe cross!”

Mark14:57-59
Andsome stood up and bore false witness against him, saying, 58 “We heard him say, ‘I will destroy thistemple that is made with hands, and in three days I will build another, notmade with hands.’” 59 Yet even about this their testimony didnot agree.

The Apostate Jews believed that they werethe obedient covenant people of God who had God’s favor and therefore would beprotected by God based upon His promises.

Exodus34:23-24Three times in the year shall all your males appear before the Lord God, theGod of Israel. 24 For I will castout nations before you and enlarge your borders; no one shall covet your land, when you go up to appear before the Lord your God three times in the year.

Psalm41:11By this I know that you delight in me: myenemy will not shout in triumph over me.

1Thessalonians 5:1-11
Nowconcerning the times and the seasons, brothers, YOU have no need to haveanything written to YOU. 2 For YOU yourselves are fullyaware that the day of the Lordwill come like a thief in the night. 3 While people are saying, “There is peace and security,”then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnantwoman, and they will not escape. 4 But YOU are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise YOU like a thief. 5 ForYOU are all children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness. 6 So then letus not sleep, as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober. 7 For those whosleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, are drunk at night. 8 But sincewe belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faithand love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation. 9 For God has not destined usfor wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 who diedfor us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him. 11Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as YOU are doing.

During the time of Noah, people wereeating and drinking, marrying and being given in marriage which was a depictionof relative PEACE.  This was takingplace all the while that generation saw the signs of judgment coming: a BIGboat being constructed; animals supernaturally coming to the ark in pairs; Godclosing the ark; rain.  Thisrelative peace is compared to Yeshua’s generation that thought they were livingin peace and safety though Christ predicted the judgment would fall uponJerusalem in that generation and it did.

Matthew24:34-51
Truly, I say to you, this generation will notpass away until all these things take place. 35 Heaven and earthwill pass away, but my words will not pass away.

36“But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only. 37 Foras were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 38For as in those days before the floodthey were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, 39 and they were unaware until theflood came and swept them all away, sowill be the coming of the Son of Man. 40 Then two men will be inthe field; one will be taken and one left. 41 Two women will be grinding at themill; one will be taken and one left. 42 Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lordis coming. 43 But know this, that if the master of the house had known inwhat part of the night the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake andwould not have let his house be broken into. 44 Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an houryou do not expect.

45“Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his master has set over hishousehold, to give them their food at the proper time? 46 Blessed is thatservant whom his master will find so doing whenhe comes. 47 Truly, I say to YOU, he will set him overall his possessions. 48 But if that wicked servant says to himself, ‘My masteris delayed,’ 49 and begins to beat his fellow servants and eats and drinks withdrunkards, 50 the master of thatservant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he doesnot know 51 and will cut him in pieces and put him with thehypocrites. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Luke17:20-37
Beingasked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, he answered them,“The kingdom of God is not coming in ways that can be observed, 21 nor willthey say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or ‘There!’ for behold, the kingdom of God is inthe midst of YOU.”

22And he said to the disciples,“The days are coming when YOU will desire to see one of the days of the Sonof Man, and YOU will not see it. 23 And they will say to YOU, ‘Look, there!’ or‘Look, here!’ Do not go out or follow them. 24 For as the lightning flashes andlights up the sky from one side to the other, so will the Son of Man be in his day.25 But first he must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation. 26 Just as it was in the days of Noah, sowill it be in the days of the Son of Man. 27 They were eating and drinking andmarrying and being given in marriage, until the day when Noahentered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. 28 Likewise, just as it was in the daysof Lot—they were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting andbuilding, 29 but on the day when Lot went out from Sodom, fireand sulfur rained from heaven and destroyed them all— 30 so will it be on theday when the Son of Man is revealed. 31 On that day, let the one who is on thehousetop, with his goods in the house, not come down to take them away, andlikewise let the one who is in the field not turn back. 32 Remember Lot's wife.33 Whoever seeks to preserve his life will lose it, but whoever loses his lifewill keep it. 34 I tell YOU, in that night there will be two in one bed.One will be taken and the other left. 35 There will be two women grindingtogether. One will be taken and the other left.” 37 And they said to him,“Where, Lord?” He said to them, “Where the corpse is, there the vultures willgather.”
