Good health is very important to me. I have made changes in the last year that have impacted my overall feeling of well-being for the better. For over a decade I have been trying to lose weight and have been gaining 5-10 lbs every year since 2000. To manage my weight, I would rely mainly on exercise without changing what I was eating. In July 2012, I made a change in my diet and have now loss over 50 lbs. Exercise combined with better food selection has improved my health dramatically.
I consider my new diet a lifestyle change and not a temporary fix. My previous diet consisted of lots of fatty greasy foods, bad carbohydrates, salts, sweets (sugars), caffeine, and dairy products. I would often snacked on candy, chips, soda, and these foods made me feel heavy, sluggish and tired.
In the Summer of 2012, I began juicing, blending and eating a lot healthier. My diet consists of lots of fresh organic fruits and vegetables, chicken (no skin), brown rice, oatmeal, nuts, sweet potatoes, yams and lots of water. Blending give me lots of great vitamins, fiber, energy and makes me feel full and not as hungry.
My day begins with drinking 1-2 glasses of water at room temperature immediately out of bed.
I have my healthy breakfast which consists of a glass of juiced/ blended vegetables and fruits, oatmeal, yogurt with hemp cereal, boiled eggs, or toasted wheat bread with pesto, avocado, tomatoes.
I eat solid meals, too. I broil my meats: chicken, fish, steak. I make the majority of my plate vegetables. I steam my veggies or boil them in a soup.
