 NATIONS AND PEOPLES OF EVERY LANGUAGE

During the time of Daniel, Judah was taken into Babylonian captivity. 

Is this phrase some sort of idiom, hyperbole?

1.     Daniel 3:4

Then the herald loudly proclaimed, “NATIONS AND PEOPLES OF EVERY LANGUAGE, this is what you are commanded to do:

 

2.     Daniel 3:7

Therefore, as soon as they heard the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp and all kinds of music, ALL THE NATIONS AND PEOPLES OF EVERY LANGUAGE fell down and worshiped the image of gold that King Nebuchadnezzar had set up.

 

3.     Daniel 4:1

Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream of a Tree

King Nebuchadnezzar, TO THE NATIONS AND PEOPLES OF EVERY LANGUAGE, who live in all the earth: May you prosper greatly!

 

4.     Daniel 5:19

Because of the high position he gave him, ALL THE NATIONS AND PEOPLES OF EVERY LANGUAGE dreaded and feared him. Those the king wanted to put to death, he put to death; those he wanted to spare, he spared; those he wanted to promote, he promoted; and those he wanted to humble, he humbled.

 

5.     Daniel 6:25

Then King Darius wrote to ALL THE NATIONS AND PEOPLES OF EVERY LANGUAGE IN ALL THE EARTH: “May you prosper greatly!

 

PERSONS FROM EVERY TRIBE AND LANGUAGE AND PEOPLE AND NATION = ISRAEL

The backstory is Israel was scattered into the pagan gentile nations adopting their customs, language, lifestyle....

The Gospel was calling scattered Israel out of the nations and regathering them. 

 

1. Revelation 5:9

And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God PERSONS FROM EVERY TRIBE AND LANGUAGE AND PEOPLE AND NATION.

2. Revelation 7:9

After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from EVERY NATION, TRIBE, PEOPLE AND LANGUAGE, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.

3. Revelation 11:9

For three and a half days SOME FROM EVERY PEOPLE, TRIBE, LANGUAGE AND NATION will gaze on their bodies and refuse them burial.

4. Revelation 13:7

It was given power to wage war against God’s holy people and to conquer them. And it was given authority over EVERY TRIBE, PEOPLE, LANGUAGE AND NATION.

5. Revelation 14:6

Then I saw another angel flying in midair, and he had the eternal gospel to proclaim to those who live on the earth—TO EVERY NATION, TRIBE, LANGUAGE AND PEOPLE.
