The Gospel In The Names of The Patriarchs from Adam to Noah.
The Gospel In The Names of The Patriarchs from Adam to Noah
The names of the patriarchs from Adam to Noah as listed in Genesis 5 are:
Name: Meaning
Adam: Man
Seth: Appointed
Enosh: Mortal
Kenan: Sorrow
Mahalalel: Blessed God
Jered: Shall Come Down
Enoch: Teaching
Methuselah: His Death Shall Bring
Lamech: The Despairing
Noah: Comfort or rest
And as we read the meanings of the names as a sentence, we read:
Man is appointed mortal sorrow, but Blessed God shall come down
teaching that His death shall bring the despairing comfort/rest.
Cain's line would be those who do not obey God...
Cain = possession - possess
Enoch = teaching, dedicated, discipline
Irad = Wild ass, dragon, fugitive
Mahujel = smitten by God
Methusael = He has sent his death, who demands his death (man who is of God)
Lamech = despairing, poor, made low
From these names you could get a sentence like:
Those who do not obey God possess the teaching of the dragon will be smitten by God who demands his death and made low.
I stopped with Lamech. I could have gone further but didn't.
Anyway... here's the link to the page where I found this back in November 2005:
