THE LOST SHEEP OF ISRAEL
were NOT Samoans, Mexicans, Indians, Filipinos, Koreans, Irish, English…. but Israelites, duh!!!

God’s lost his sheep in the OT were Israeli.
God promises to seek and save his lost sheep.
Churchianity turned God’s Israeli lost sheep into every other ethnic background nation country from Thailand to Puerto Rican to Hawaiians to Eskimos!
The Old Testament describes God as The Shepherd of Israel. The most famous Psalm 23, we see David saying, “The Lord is My Shepherd, I shall not want.”
1. PSALM 78:70-71 He chose David his servant and took him from the sheep pens; 71 from tending the sheep he brought him. TO BE THE SHEPHERD OF HIS PEOPLE JACOB,
OF ISRAEL HIS INHERITANCE.
72 And David shepherded them with integrity of heart; with skillful hands he led them.
**Who does God use to shepherd His People Israel? David
**In the following passages, we will see Israel scattered, lost, wandering, plundered, until God searches for them Himself. Israel had bad leaders that led the flock of God astray!
- 1 Kings 22:17 Then Micaiah answered, “I SAW ALL ISRAEL SCATTERED ON THE HILLS LIKE SHEEP WITHOUT A SHEPHERD, and the Lord said, ‘These people have no master. Let each one go home in peace.’”
- 2 Chronicles 18:16 Then Micaiah answered, “I SAW ALL ISRAEL SCATTERED ON THE HILLS LIKE SHEEP WITHOUT A SHEPHERD, and the Lord said, ‘These people have no master. Let each one go home in peace.’”
- Jeremiah 23:1 “WOE TO THE SHEPHERDS WHO ARE DESTROYING AND SCATTERING THE SHEEP OF MY PASTURE!” declares the Lord.
- Jeremiah 50:6 “MY PEOPLE HAVE BEEN LOST SHEEP; THEIR SHEPHERDS HAVE LED THEM ASTRAY AND CAUSED THEM TO ROAM ON THE MOUNTAINS. They wandered over mountain and hill and forgot their own resting place.
- Ezekiel 34:6 MY SHEEP WANDERED OVER ALL THE MOUNTAINS AND ON EVERY HIGH HILL. THEY WERE SCATTERED OVER THE WHOLE EARTH, AND NO ONE SEARCHED OR LOOKED FOR THEM.
- Ezekiel 34:11 “‘For this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I MYSELF WILL SEARCH FOR MY SHEEP AND LOOK AFTER THEM.
- Ezekiel 34:12 AS A SHEPHERD LOOKS AFTER HIS SCATTERED FLOCK WHEN HE IS WITH THEM, SO WILL I LOOK AFTER MY SHEEP. I WILL RESCUE THEM FROM ALL THE PLACES WHERE THEY WERE SCATTERED on a day of clouds and darkness.
- Ezekiel 34:15 I MYSELF WILL TEND MY SHEEP and have them lie down, declares the Sovereign Lord.
- Ezekiel 34:17 “‘AS FOR YOU, MY FLOCK, THIS IS WHAT THE SOVEREIGN LORD SAYS: I WILL JUDGE BETWEEN ONE SHEEP AND ANOTHER, and between rams and goats.
- Ezekiel 34:20 “‘Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says to them: SEE, I MYSELF WILL JUDGE BETWEEN THE FAT SHEEP AND THE LEAN SHEEP.
- Ezekiel 34:22 I WILL SAVE MY FLOCK, AND THEY WILL NO LONGER BE PLUNDERED. I WILL JUDGE BETWEEN ONE SHEEP AND ANOTHER.
- Ezekiel 34:31 YOU ARE MY SHEEP, THE SHEEP OF MY PASTURE, AND I AM YOUR GOD, declares the Sovereign Lord.’”
**YHWH declares that He will search for His sheep and tend to them!
When The New Testament opens, we hear of a Ruler who will Shepherd God’s People. This is the same people that are shepherded by God in the Old Testament, Israel. They were described as lost sheep without a shepherd.
Israel was a divided Kingdom at the time of the New Testament; Judah & Benjamin in the South and the other 10 tribes in the North scattered among the nations. We see Christ preaching in Judah among the jews. They are NOT Egyptians, Moabites, Philistines, Ammonites, Filipinos, Samoans, just ISRAELITE JEWS.
Yeshua declares that He is THE GOOD SHEPHERD and assembles a rescue team to find the lost sheep of Israel. The team is empowered by The Holy Spirit and are likened to SPECIAL FORCES COMMANDOS that cannot fail mission in bringing in the elect lost sheep of Israel!
YHWH said He would search for His lost sheep.
Yeshua is YHWH.
At the end of the Bible story, 144,000 from the 12 tribes of Israel are redeemed aka saved.
Matthew 2:6 “‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come A RULER WHO WILL SHEPHERD MY PEOPLE ISRAEL.’”
**Who does God say The Ruler will shepherd? MY PEOPLE ISRAEL.
Matthew 10:5-7 5 These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. 6 GO RATHER TO THE LOST SHEEP OF ISRAEL. 7 As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’
**Who were the lost sheep of Israel? THE SCATTERED TRIBES LED ASTRAY BY BAD LEADERS. They were in the nations.
Matthew 15:24 He answered, “I WAS SENT ONLY TO THE LOST SHEEP OF ISRAEL.”
**The lost sheep of the house of Israel were from the 12 Tribes of Israel. They were either the jews in the south or the scattered Israelites (Ephraim) from the north who were in the pagan gentile nations.
JOHN 10:14-16 “I am the good shepherd; I KNOW MY SHEEP AND MY SHEEP KNOW ME— 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—AND I LAY DOWN MY LIFE FOR THE SHEEP. 16 I HAVE OTHER SHEEP THAT ARE NOT OF THIS SHEEP PEN. I MUST BRING THEM ALSO. THEY TOO WILL LISTEN TO MY VOICE, AND THERE SHALL BE ONE FLOCK and ONE SHEPHERD.
**The other sheep not of this pen were from the 10 other tribes in the North that were cut off from covenant with YHWH and scattered. They would be brought back in, grafted back in, to unite the kingdom again where they will be one stick, one olive tree, one flock and one kingdom.
JOHN 10:27 MY SHEEP LISTEN TO MY VOICE; I KNOW THEM, AND THEY FOLLOW ME.
**Who were THE SHEEP in this passage? THE LOST SHEEP OF THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL.
John 21:15-17 When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “FEED MY LAMBS.” 16 He said to him a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “TEND MY SHEEP.” 17 He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, “Do you love me?” and he said to him, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “FEED MY SHEEP.
**Who were Christ’s lambs & sheep? ISRAEL
HEBREWS 13:20-21 Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, THE GREAT SHEPHERD OF THE SHEEP, by the blood of the eternal covenant, 21 equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
**The writer of Hebrews’ identifies Jesus Christ as The Great Shepherd of The Sheep. Hmmm, a book called Hebrews? I wonder if it was written to Hebrew Israelites?
1 PETER 2:25 For YOU WERE STRAYING LIKE SHEEP, but have NOW RETURNED TO THE SHEPHERD AND OVERSEER OF YOUR SOULS.
**Peter speaking to the Dispersed Israelites who had strayed are now returning to The Shepherd of their soul. Are Samoans, Mexicans or Filipinos ever identified as God's sheep?
1 PETER 5:4 And WHEN THE CHIEF SHEPHERD APPEARS, YOU will receive the unfading crown of glory.
**Peter encourages his under shepherds and leaders that they will receive the unfading crown of glory when THE CHIEF SHEPHERD APPEARS (70AD).
**Who is The Shepherd? Who in the OT was promised that their tears would be wiped from their eyes? ISRAEL
