²³ ALSO I RAISED MY HAND IN AN OATH TO THOSE IN THE WILDERNESS, THAT I WOULD SCATTER THEM AMONG THE GENTILES AND DISPERSE THEM THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRIES, 

***YHWH makes good on His Word to scatter Israel for her adultery and idolatry:

³² What you have in your mind shall never be, when you say, ‘WE WILL BE LIKE THE GENTILES, LIKE THE FAMILIES IN OTHER COUNTRIES, SERVING WOOD AND STONE.’

***ISRAEL says in their mind that THEY WILL BE LIKE THE GENTILES because of being scattered into the gentile nations for their sin.

⁴¹ I WILL ACCEPT YOU AS A SWEET AROMA WHEN I BRING YOU OUT FROM THE PEOPLES AND GATHER YOU OUT OF THE COUNTRIES WHERE YOU HAVE BEEN SCATTERED; AND I WILL BE HALLOWED IN YOU BEFORE THE GENTILES. 

***YHWH promises to gather them out of the gentile nations and He is NOT a LIAR.  They regather by The Gospel.

Does Romans 11:25 make sense now???

Romans 11:25-26

For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel UNTIL THE FULLNESS OF THE GENTILES HAS COME IN.   ²⁶ AND SO ALL ISRAEL WILL BE SAVED,as it is written:  “The Deliverer will come out of Zion,And He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob;

Acts 13:48

Now when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of the Lord. AND AS MANY AS HAD BEEN APPOINTED TO ETERNAL LIFE BELIEVED.

***THE GENTILES WERE THE SCATTERED NORTHERN KINGDOM, ISRAEL.  THEY WERE BROUGHT BACK INTO THE KINGDOM BY 70AD. THE APOSTLES FULFILLED THE GREAT COMMISSION OR THE GREAT FISHING TRIP TO FISH THE ELECT REMNANT OF ISRAEL OUT OF THE NATIONS.  

The Rebellions of Israel

EZEKIEL 20 It came to pass in the seventh year, in the fifth month, on the tenth day of the month, that certain of the elders of Israel came to inquire of the Lord, and sat before me. ² Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying, ³ “Son of man, speak to the elders of Israel, and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Have you come to inquire of Me? As I live,” says the Lord God, “I will not be inquired of by you.” ’ ⁴ Will you judge them, son of man, will you judge them? Then make known to them the abominations of their fathers.

⁵ “Say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “On the day when I chose Israel and raised My hand in an oath to the descendants of the house of Jacob, and made Myself known to them in the land of Egypt, I raised My hand in an oath to them, saying, ‘I am the Lord your God.’ ⁶ On that day I raised My hand in an oath to them, to bring them out of the land of Egypt into a land that I had searched out for them, ‘flowing with milk and honey,’ the glory of all lands. ⁷ Then I said to them, ‘Each of you, throw away the abominations which are before his eyes, and do not defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.’ ⁸ But they rebelled against Me and would not obey Me. They did not all cast away the abominations which were before their eyes, nor did they forsake the idols of Egypt. Then I said, ‘I will pour out My fury on them and fulfill My anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.’ ⁹ BUT I ACTED FOR MY NAME’S SAKE, THAT IT SHOULD NOT BE PROFANED BEFORE THE GENTILES among whom they were, in whose sight I had made Myself known to them, to bring them out of the land of Egypt.

¹⁰ “Therefore I made them go out of the land of Egypt and brought them into the wilderness. ¹¹ And I gave them My statutes and showed them My judgments, ‘which, if a man does, he shall live by them.’ ¹² Moreover I also gave them My Sabbaths, to be a sign between them and Me, that they might know that I am the Lord who sanctifies them. ¹³ Yet the house of Israel rebelled against Me in the wilderness; they did not walk in My statutes; they despised My judgments, ‘which, if a man does, he shall live by them’; and they greatly defiled My Sabbaths. Then I said I would pour out My fury on them in the wilderness, to consume them. ¹⁴ BUT I ACTED FOR MY NAME’S SAKE, THAT IT SHOULD NOT BE PROFANED BEFORE THE GENTILES, in whose sight I had brought them out. ¹⁵ So I also raised My hand in an oath to them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, ‘flowing with milk and honey,’ the glory of all lands, ¹⁶ because they despised My judgments and did not walk in My statutes, but profaned My Sabbaths; for their heart went after their idols. ¹⁷ Nevertheless My eye spared them from destruction. I did not make an end of them in the wilderness.

¹⁸ “But I said to their children in the wilderness, ‘Do not walk in the statutes of your fathers, nor observe their judgments, nor defile yourselves with their idols. ¹⁹ I am the Lord your God: Walk in My statutes, keep My judgments, and do them; ²⁰ hallow My Sabbaths, and they will be a sign between Me and you, that you may know that I am the Lord your God.’

²¹ “Notwithstanding, the children rebelled against Me; they did not walk in My statutes, and were not careful to observe My judgments, ‘which, if a man does, he shall live by them’; but they profaned My Sabbaths. Then I said I would pour out My fury on them and fulfill My anger against them in the wilderness. ²² NEVERTHELESS I WITHDREW MY HAND AND ACTED FOR MY NAME’S SAKE, THAT IT SHOULD NOT BE PROFANED IN THE SIGHT OF THE GENTILES,in whose sight I had brought them out. ²³ ALSO I RAISED MY HAND IN AN OATH TO THOSE IN THE WILDERNESS, THAT I WOULD SCATTER THEM AMONG THE GENTILES AND DISPERSE THEM THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRIES, ²⁴ because they had not executed My judgments, but had despised My statutes, profaned My Sabbaths, and their eyes were fixed on their fathers’ idols.

²⁵ “Therefore I also gave them up to statutes that were not good, and judgments by which they could not live; ²⁶ and I pronounced them unclean because of their ritual gifts, in that they caused all their firstborn to pass through the fire, that I might make them desolate and that they might know that I am the Lord.” ’

²⁷ “Therefore, son of man, speak to the house of Israel, and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “In this too your fathers have blasphemed Me, by being unfaithful to Me. ²⁸ When I brought them into the land concerning which I had raised My hand in an oath to give them, and they saw all the high hills and all the thick trees, there they offered their sacrifices and provoked Me with their offerings. There they also sent up their sweet aroma and poured out their drink offerings. ²⁹ Then I said to them, ‘What is this high place to which you go?’ So its name is called Bamah to this day.” ’ ³⁰ Therefore say to the house of Israel, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Are you defiling yourselves in the manner of your fathers, and committing harlotry according to their abominations? ³¹ For when you offer your gifts and make your sons pass through the fire, you defile yourselves with all your idols, even to this day. So shall I be inquired of by you, O house of Israel? As I live,” says the Lord God, “I will not be inquired of by you. ³² What you have in your mind shall never be, when you say, ‘WE WILL BE LIKE THE GENTILES, LIKE THE FAMILIES IN OTHER COUNTRIES, SERVING WOOD AND STONE.’

God Will Restore Israel

³³ “AS I LIVE,” SAYS THE LORD GOD, “SURELY WITH A MIGHTY HAND, WITH AN OUTSTRETCHED ARM, AND WITH FURY POURED OUT, I WILL RULE OVER YOU. ³⁴ I WILL BRING YOU OUT FROM THE PEOPLES AND GATHER YOU OUT OF THE COUNTRIES WHERE YOU ARE SCATTERED, WITH A MIGHTY HAND, WITH AN OUTSTRETCHED ARM, AND WITH FURY POURED OUT. ³⁵ And I will bring you into the wilderness of the peoples, and there I will plead My case with you face to face. ³⁶ Just as I pleaded My case with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so I will plead My case with you,” says the Lord God.

³⁷ “I will make you pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant; ³⁸ I will purge the rebels from among you, and those who transgress against Me; I will bring them out of the country where they dwell, but they shall not enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord.

³⁹ “As for you, O house of Israel,” thus says the Lord God: “Go, serve every one of you his idols—and hereafter—if you will not obey Me; but profane My holy name no more with your gifts and your idols. ⁴⁰ For on My holy mountain, on the mountain height of Israel,” says the Lord God, “there all the house of Israel, all of them in the land, shall serve Me; there I will accept them, and there I will require your offerings and the firstfruits of your sacrifices, together with all your holy things. ⁴¹ I WILL ACCEPT YOU AS A SWEET AROMA WHEN I BRING YOU OUT FROM THE PEOPLES AND GATHER YOU OUT OF THE COUNTRIES WHERE YOU HAVE BEEN SCATTERED; AND I WILL BE HALLOWED IN YOU BEFORE THE GENTILES. ⁴² Then you shall know that I am the Lord, when I bring you into the land of Israel, into the country for which I raised My hand in an oath to give to your fathers. ⁴³ And there you shall remember your ways and all your doings with which you were defiled; and you shall loathe yourselves in your own sight because of all the evils that you have committed. ⁴⁴ Then you shall know that I am the Lord, when I have dealt with you for My name’s sake, not according to your wicked ways nor according to your corrupt doings, O house of Israel,” says the Lord God.’ ”

Fire in the Forest

⁴⁵ Furthermore the word of the Lord came to me, saying, ⁴⁶ “Son of man, set your face toward the south; preach against the south and prophesy against the forest land, the South, ⁴⁷ and say to the forest of the South, ‘Hear the word of the Lord! Thus says the Lord God: “Behold, I will kindle a fire in you, and it shall devour every green tree and every dry tree in you; the blazing flame shall not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be scorched by it. ⁴⁸ All flesh shall see that I, the Lord, have kindled it; it shall not be quenched.” ’ ”

⁴⁹ Then I said, “Ah, Lord God! They say of me, ‘Does he not speak parables?’ ”

Romans 1:18-32 is NOT about GENERAL REVELATION but Israel's WICKEDNESS

ROMANS 1 

I will demonstrate from Scripture that the book of Romans, especially Romans 1:18-32 is exclusively describing Israel.  It is not about GENERAL REVELATION, a concept derived from the traditions of mere men to make people believe the idea that man can come to the knowledge of GOD by the creation.  

ROMANS 1

Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God, ² which he promised beforehand through his prophets in the holy Scriptures, ³ concerning his Son, who was descended from David according to the flesh ⁴ and was declared to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord, ⁵ through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith for the sake of his name AMONG ALL THE NATIONS, ⁶ including YOU WHO ARE CALLED TO BELONG TO JESUS CHRIST,

⁷ TO ALL THOSE IN ROME WHO ARE LOVED BY GOD AND CALLED TO BE SAINTS:

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

⁸ First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because YOUR FAITH IS PROCLAIMED IN ALL THE WORLD. ⁹ For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I mention you ¹⁰ always in my prayers, asking that somehow by God's will I may now at last succeed in coming to you.¹¹ For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen you— ¹² that is, that we may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith, both yours and mine. ¹³ I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, that I have often intended to come to you (but thus far have been prevented), in order THAT I MAY REAP SOME HARVEST AMONG YOU as well asAMONG THE REST OF THE GENTILES. ¹⁴ I am under obligation both to GREEKS AND TO BARBARIANS, both to the wise and to the foolish. ¹⁵ So I am eager to PREACH THE GOSPEL TO YOU ALSO WHO ARE IN ROME.

¹⁶ For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, TO THE JEW FIRST and ALSO TO THE GREEK. ¹⁷ For in it 

THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD IS REVEALED from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”

¹⁸ For THE WRATH OF GOD IS REVEALED FROM HEAVENagainst all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who BY THEIR UNRIGHTEOUSNESS SUPPRESS THE TRUTH. ¹⁹ For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has SHOWN IT TO THEM. ²⁰ For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever SINCE THE CREATION OF THE WORLD, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. ²¹ FOR ALTHOUGH THEY KNEW GOD, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. ²² Claiming to be wise, they became fools, ²³ and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.

²⁴ Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, ²⁵ because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.

²⁶ For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; ²⁷ and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.

²⁸ And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. ²⁹ They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, ³⁰ slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, ³¹ foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. ³² Though they know God's righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.

V5-7  Paul is bringing in the CALLED and ELECT REMNANT of Israel that was scattered among the nations by the Gospel.  

V8 The gospel was proclaimed in all the covenant world and “The Great Commission” given to the apostles and disciples of 1^st century generation fulfilled it!

V13 Paul states that he may reap some harvest among the Romans as well as among the rest of the gentiles.  Meaning the Romans were part of the elect remnant of Israel that became like gentiles or the nations when they were scattered and became the Diaspora.  Btw, Christ says in 

Matthew 13:³⁹ and the enemy who sowed them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are angels.” 

Paul likens himself to an angel reaping at the end of the old covenant age.

The rest of the gentiles are the rest of the scattered elect remnant of Israel who were scattered among the gentile nations and became like gentile.

V14 The Greek was not necessarily one of Greek heritage but one familiar with the Greek language which was used.  Barbarians would contrast the Greek in being one not familiar with Greek culture and language among which the elect remnant of Israel’s Diaspora was scattered.

John 7:35  The Jews said to one another, “Where does this man intend to go that we will not find him? Does he intend to go to the Dispersion among the Greeks and teach the Greeks?

V16  The Gospel was unleashed from Judah/ Jerusalem among the Jews first and spread among the Greeks or those elect remnant diaspora among the “gentile” Greek speaking nations.

V17 Notice how YHWH’s righteousness and wrath v18 is being revealed.

BREAKING DOWN ROMANS 1:18-32

This passage is not about an average Joe looking at nature and coming to YHWH.  It’s about Israel who knew God and His statutes and rejected Him making them worthy of wrath. 

¹⁸ For THE WRATH OF GOD IS REVEALED FROM HEAVEN against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. 

Notice in v17,
the righteousness of God is REVEALED 

and v18 the wrath of God  is REVEALED

Exodus 32:11

Then Moses pleaded with the Lord his God, and said: “LORD, WHY DOES YOUR WRATH 

BURN HOT AGAINST YOUR PEOPLE whom You have brought out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand?

Zechariah 8:14  For thus says the Lord of hosts: “AS I PURPOSED TO BRING DISASTER TO YOU WHEN YOUR FATHERS PROVOKED ME TO WRATH, AND I DID NOT RELENT, SAYS THE LORD OF HOSTS,

Deuteronomy 9:7  “Remember! Do not forget how YOU PROVOKED THE LORD YOUR GOD 

TO WRATH in the wilderness. From the day that you departed from the land of Egypt until you came to this place, you have been rebellious against the Lord.

¹⁹ FOR WHAT CAN BE KNOWN ABOUT GOD IS PLAIN TO THEM, because GOD HAS SHOWN IT TO THEM. 

GOD only made Himself known to Israel.

 

Amos 3:1-2 

Hear this word that the Lord has spoken against you, O people of Israel, against the whole family that I brought up out of the land of Egypt:  ² “YOU ONLY HAVE I KNOWNOF ALL THE FAMILIES OF THE EARTH;therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.

 

Deuteronomy 7:6 

“FOR YOU ARE A PEOPLE HOLY TO THE LORD YOUR GOD. THE LORD YOUR GOD HAS CHOSEN YOU TO BE A PEOPLE FOR HIS TREASURED POSSESSION, OUT OF ALL THE PEOPLES WHO ARE ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH.

Deuteronomy 10:15  

Yet THE LORD SET HIS HEART IN LOVE ON YOUR FATHERS AND CHOSE THEIR OFFSPRING AFTER THEM, YOU ABOVE ALL PEOPLES, as you are this day.

 

Psalm 147:19-20 

HE DECLARES HIS WORD TO JACOB,
HIS STATUTES AND RULES TO ISRAEL.
²⁰ HE HAS NOT DEALT THUS WITH ANY OTHER NATION;THEY DO NOT KNOW HIS RULES.Praise the Lord!

 

Hosea 5:3 

I KNOW EPHRAIM,AND ISRAEL IS NOT HIDDEN FROM ME;for now, O EPHRAIM, YOU HAVE PLAYED THE WHORE;Israel is defiled.

 

Hosea 13:5 

IT WAS I WHO KNEW YOU in the wilderness,in the land of drought;

²⁰ For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. 

YHWH MADE HIS ATTRIBUTES, POWER, MIGHT KNOWN TO ISRAEL!

Psalm 78:10-18  

¹⁰ They did not keep God's covenant, but refused to walk according to his law.
¹¹ THEY FORGOT HIS WORKS AND THE WONDERSthat HE HAD SHOWN THEM.
¹² IN THE SIGHT OF THEIR FATHERS HE PERFORMED WONDERSin the land of Egypt, in the fields of Zoan.
¹³ He divided the sea and let them pass through it, and made the waters stand like a heap.
¹⁴ In the daytime he led them with a cloud, and all the night with a fiery light.
¹⁵ He split rocks in the wilderness and gave them drink abundantly as from the deep.
¹⁶ He made streams come out of the rock and caused waters to flow down like rivers.

¹⁷ YET THEY SINNED STILL MORE AGAINST HIM, REBELLING AGAINST THE MOST HIGH IN THE DESERT.
¹⁸ THEY TESTED GOD IN THEIR HEART BY DEMANDING THE FOOD THEY CRAVED.

²¹ FOR ALTHOUGH THEY KNEW GOD,, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 

Only Israel KNEW GOD!

2 Kings 17:15 

¹⁵ THEY DESPISED HIS STATUTES AND HIS COVENANTthat he made with their fathers and the warnings that he gave them. They went after false idols and became false, and they followed the nations that were around them, concerning whom the Lord had commanded them that they should not do like them.

²² Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 

ISRAEL PLAYED THE FOOLISH HARLOT AND RAN AFTER IDOLS.

Jeremiah 10:14 

¹⁴ EVERY MAN IS STUPID AND WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE;
    every goldsmith is put to shame by his idols,
for his images are false,
    and there is no breath in them.

²³ and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.

ISRAEL EXCHANGED THE GLORY OF GOD FOR IDOLS.

 

Psalm 106:20 

²⁰ THEY EXCHANGED THE GLORY OF GOD for the image of an ox that eats grass.

 

Jeremiah 2:11 

¹¹ Has a nation changed its gods, even though they are no gods?
But MY PEOPLE HAVE CHANGED THEIR GLORYfor that which does not profit.

²⁴ Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, 

ISRAEL DEFILED HERSELF.

Ezekiel 36:17

“Son of man, when the house of Israel lived in their own land, THEY DEFILED IT BY THEIR WAYS AND THEIR DEEDS. THEIR WAYS BEFORE ME WERE LIKE THE UNCLEANNESS OF A WOMAN IN HER MENSTRUAL IMPURITY.

²⁵ because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.

ISRAEL OVER AND OVER REJECTED THE TRUTH OF GOD FOR THE LIE AND PLAYED THE WHORE BY WORSHIPPING IDOLS

Jeremiah 9:5 

⁵ Everyone deceives his neighbor, and NO ONE SPEAKS THE TRUTH;
they have taught their tongue to speak lies; they weary themselves committing iniquity.

Numbers 25:1-3 

While Israel lived in Shittim, THE PEOPLE BEGAN TO WHORE WITH THE DAUGHTERS OF MOAB. ² These invited the people to the sacrifices of their gods, and the people ate and bowed down to their gods. ³ SO ISRAEL YOKED HIMSELF TO BAAL OF PEOR. And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel.

Exodus 32:7-9

²⁶ For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; 

²⁷ and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.

²⁸ And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. 

THE WORSHIP OF IDOLS IS LIKENED TO SPIRITUAL ADULTERY!  TO WORSHIP AN IDOL INVOLVED SEXUAL RELATIONS WITH A PRIEST OR PRIESTESS IN ORDER TO COMMUNE WITH THE FALSE GOD.


2 Kings 17:7-18 

⁷ And this occurred because THE PEOPLE OF ISRAEL HAD SINNED AGAINST THE LORD THEIR GOD, who had brought them up out of the land of Egypt from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and HAD FEARED OTHER GODS ⁸ and walked in the customs of the nations whom the Lord drove out before the people of Israel, and in the customs that the kings of Israel had practiced. ⁹ And the people of Israel did secretly against the Lord their God things that were not right. They built for themselves high places in all their towns, from watchtower to fortified city. ¹⁰ They set up for themselves pillars and Asherim on every high hill and under every green tree, ¹¹ and there they made offerings on all the high places, as the nations did whom the Lord carried away before them. And they did wicked things, provoking the Lord to anger, ¹² and they served idols, of which the Lord had said to them, “You shall not do this.” ¹³ Yet the Lord warned Israel and Judah by every prophet and every seer, saying, “Turn from your evil ways and keep my commandments and my statutes, in accordance with all the Law that I commanded your fathers, and that I sent to you by my servants the prophets.”

¹⁴ But they would not listen, but were stubborn, as their fathers had been, who did not believe in the Lord their God. ¹⁵ THEY DESPISED HIS STATUTES AND HIS COVENANT that he made with their fathers and the warnings that he gave them. THEY WENT AFTER FALSE IDOLS AND BECAME FALSE,and they followed the nations that were around them, concerning whom the Lord had commanded them that they should not do like them. ¹⁶ AND THEY ABANDONED ALL THE COMMANDMENTS OF THE LORD THEIR GOD, AND MADE FOR THEMSELVES METAL IMAGES OF TWO CALVES; AND THEY MADE AN ASHERAH AND WORSHIPED ALL THE HOST OF HEAVEN AND SERVED BAAL. ¹⁷ AND THEY BURNED THEIR SONS AND THEIR DAUGHTERS AS OFFERINGS AND USED DIVINATION AND OMENS AND SOLD THEMSELVES TO DO EVIL IN THE SIGHT OF THE LORD,provoking him to anger. ¹⁸ Therefore the Lord was very angry with Israel and removed them out of his sight. None was left but the tribe of Judah only.

²⁹ They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, ³⁰ slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, ³¹ foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. ³² Though THEY KNOW God's righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.

ISRAEL KNEW YHWH's WORD, STATUTES, RULES, LAW BUT REJECTED THEM AND LIVED IN SIN!

Psalm 147:19-20 

HE DECLARES HIS WORD TO JACOB,
HIS STATUTES AND RULES TO ISRAEL.
²⁰ HE HAS NOT DEALT THUS WITH ANY OTHER NATION;THEY DO NOT KNOW HIS RULES.Praise the Lord!

Notice how Jeremiah likens YHWH’s people to being like foolish stupid pagans who do not know YHWH because of their sin and idolatry.  Their state of evil was like Genesis 1 when YHWH created the covenant with pagan Adam.  The earth or covenant world to be, was FORMLESS, VOID and in pagan DARKNESS.  It was in a state of chaos, disorder.

So, too, Jeremiah speaks of YHWH looking upon the covenant world and seeing His people being without FORM, VOID and the heavens (spiritual leadership) having NO LIGHT because they sinned and broke covenant and became like pagans.

Jeremiah 4:22-27  

²² “FOR MY PEOPLE ARE FOOLISH;    THEY KNOW ME NOT;
THEY ARE STUPID CHILDREN;    THEY HAVE NO UNDERSTANDING.
THEY ARE ‘WISE’—IN DOING EVIL!    BUT HOW TO DO GOOD THEY KNOW NOT.”

Genesis 1:1-5 

1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. ² THE EARTH WAS WITHOUT FORM AND VOID, AND DARKNESS WAS OVER THE FACE OF THE DEEP.And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

Genesis 1:22

And God blessed them, saying, “BE FRUITFUL AND MULTIPLYand fill the waters in the seas, AND LET BIRDS MULTIPLY ON THE EARTH.”

Genesis 1:28

And God blessed them. And God said to them, “BE FRUITFUL AND MULTIPLYand fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and OVER THE BIRDS OF THE HEAVENS and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

Genesis 2:1-6 The heavens, the earth, and all their vast array were finished. ² On the seventh day God finished his work which he had done; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had done. ³ God blessed the seventh day, and made it holy, because he rested in it from all his work of creation which he had done.

⁴ This is the history of the GENERATIONS of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that Yahweh God made the earth and the heavens. ⁵ No plant of the field was yet in the earth, and no herb of the field had yet sprung up; for Yahweh God had not caused it to rain on the earth. THERE WAS NOT A MAN TO TILL THE GROUND, ⁶ but a mist went up from the earth, and watered the whole surface of the ground. 

**v4  If Adam was the first man, how can there be generationS?  

GENESIS is NOT the creation of the physical world but the creation of the covenant world.  This was the Ancient Near Eastern worldview of describing the creation of a nation by YHWH gave function to His creation.  There were people on earth before Adam.  Without form, being void and in darkness meant that man was without God's Word, Light, Order, Presence...  

Notice all these parallels between Jeremiah and Genesis:

Jeremiah 4:22 says there were "people," so how can there be no man in v.25?  

Genesis was written in 1600 BC and Jeremiah in 500 BC, so how can there be no man?  

What is meant by NO MAN???

Genesis 4:12-17 

¹² When you work the ground, it shall no longer yield to you its strength. YOU SHALL BE A FUGITIVE AND A WANDERER ON THE EARTH.” ¹³ Cain said to the Lord, “My punishment is greater than I can bear. ¹⁴ Behold, you have driven me today away from the ground, and from your face I shall be hidden. I SHALL BE A FUGITIVE AND A WANDERER ON THE EARTH, AND WHOEVER FINDS ME WILL KILL ME.” ¹⁵ Then the Lord said to him, “NOT SO! IF ANYONE KILLS CAIN, VENGEANCE SHALL BE TAKEN ON HIM SEVENFOLD.” AND THE LORD PUT A MARK ON CAIN, LEST ANY WHO FOUND HIM SHOULD ATTACK HIM. ¹⁶ Then Cain went away from the presence of the Lord and SETTLED IN THE LAND OF NOD, EAST OF EDEN.

¹⁷ CAIN KNEW HIS WIFE,and she conceived and bore Enoch. When he built a city, he called the name of the city after the name of his son, Enoch.

***In Genesis 4, there are 4 people, Adam, Eve, Cain and Abel.   After Cain kills Abel, there are 3 people.  So, why is Cain tripping that someone is going to kill him if Adam and Eve are the only other people on earth?  YHWH even says that vengeance shall be taken on the person sevenfold who kills Cain.  YHWH also places a mark on Cain so no one should attack him.  

And how the heck does Cain find a wife in a land CALLED NOD if only Adam and Eve are the only other humans on earth?  How is there a "land called Nod, East of Eden" occupied by people including Cain's wife if there are only 3 people on earth?

Again, Genesis is NOT the creation of the first humans and the physical world.  It is the creation of the first covenant people.  YHWH had people on earth living out their pagan lives.  YHWH called Adam out of his pagan darkness and brought him into HIs Light, garden, presence.  Adam was the first covenant man and not the first human being.
