Scripture on LAZINESS and POVERTY

compiled by Tuese Ahkiong from NLT

1.      Proverbs 6:6-11  Take a lesson from the ants, you lazybones. Learn from their ways and become wise!Though they have no prince or governor or ruler to make them work, they labor hard all summer, gathering food for the winter. But you, lazybones, how long will you sleep? When will you wake up?10 A little extra sleep, a little more slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest—11 then poverty will pounce on you like a bandit; scarcity will attack you like an armed robber.

2.      Proverbs 10:4 Lazy people are soon poor; hard workers get rich.

3.      Proverbs 10:5 A wise youth harvests in the summer, but one who sleeps during harvest is a disgrace.

4.      Proverbs 10:15 The wealth of the rich is their fortress;
the poverty of the poor is their destruction.

5.      Proverbs 10:26  Lazy people irritate their employers, like vinegar to the teeth or smoke in the eyes.

6.      Proverbs 12:24 Work hard and become a leader;
be lazy and become a slave.

7.      Proverbs 12:27  Lazy people don’t even cook the game they catch, but the diligent make use of everything they find.

8.      Proverbs 13:4 Lazy people want much but get little, but those who work hard will prosper.

11.    Proverbs 14:23 Work brings profit, but mere talk leads to poverty!

12.    Proverbs 15:19 A lazy person’s way is blocked with briers, but the path of the upright is an open highway.

13.    Proverbs 18:9 A lazy person is as bad as someone who destroys things.

14.    Proverbs 19:4 Wealth makes many “friends”; poverty drives them all away.

15.    Proverbs 19:7  The relatives of the poor despise them; how much more will their friends avoid them!
Though the poor plead with them, their friends are gone.

16.    Proverbs 19:15  Lazy people sleep soundly, but idleness leaves them hungry.

17.    Proverbs 19:24  Lazy people take food in their hand but don’t even lift it to their mouth.

19.    Proverbs 20:13 If you love sleep, you will end in poverty. Keep your eyes open, and there will be plenty to eat!

20.    Proverbs 21:5 Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty.

21.    Proverbs 21:17  Those who love pleasure become poor; those who love wine and luxury will never be rich.

22.    Proverbs 21:25 Despite their desires, the lazy will come to ruin, for their hands refuse to work.

23.    Proverbs 22:7  Just as the rich rule the poor, so the borrower is servant (slave) to the lender.

24.    Proverbs 22:16  A person who gets ahead by oppressing the poor or by showering gifts on the rich will end in poverty.

25.    Proverbs 22:13 The lazy person claims, “There’s a lion out there! If I go outside, I might be killed!”

**Lazy people make up excuses to not work!

26.    Proverbs 23:21 for they are on their way to poverty, and too much sleep clothes them in rags.

27.    Proverbs 24:30-34 I walked by the field of a lazy person, the vineyard of one with no common sense.31 I saw that it was overgrown with nettles. It was covered with weeds, and its walls were broken down.32 Then, as I looked and thought about it, I learned this lesson:33 A little extra sleep, a little more slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest—34 then poverty will pounce on you like a bandit; scarcity will attack you like an armed robber.

33.    Proverbs 30:7-9 O God, I beg two favors from you; let me have them before I die. First, help me never to tell a lie.Second, give me neither poverty nor riches!  Give me just enough to satisfy my needs. For if I grow rich, I may deny you and say, “Who is the Lord?” And if I am too poor, I may steal and thus insult God’s holy name.

34.    Ecclesiastes 9:10  Whatever you do, do well. For when you go to the grave, there will be no work or planning or knowledge or wisdom.

35.    Colossians 3:17  And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.

36.    Colossians 3:23 Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.

37.    1 Thessalonians 4:10-12 Indeed, you already show your love for all the believers throughout Macedonia. Even so, dear brothers and sisters, we urge you to love them even more.11 Make it your goal to live a quiet life, minding your own business and working with your hands, just as we instructed you before. 12 Then people who are not believers will respect the way you live, and you will not need to depend on others.

38.    1 Thessalonians 5:14  Brothers and sisters, we urge you to warn those who are lazy. Encourage those who are timid. Take tender care of those who are weak. Be patient with everyone.

39.    2 Thessalonians 3:10  Even while we were with you, we gave you this command: “Those unwilling to work will not get to eat.”

40.    2 Thessalonians 3:11-12 Yet we hear that some of you are living idle lives, refusing to work and meddling in other people’s business.   12 We command such people and urge them in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and work to earn their own living.

41.    1 Timothy 5:8 But those who won’t care for their relatives, especially those in their own household, have denied the true faith. Such people are worse than unbelievers.

THE ROMAN CATHOLIC 10 COMMANDMENTS vs THE BIBLE

THE ROMAN CATHOLIC TWISTED 10 COMMANDMENTS

Vs

THE REAL BIBLE 10 COMMANDMENTS

I remember as a kid my catholic catechism teacher teaching me the 10 Commandments at OLPH. The Catholic 10C omits the 2nd C which says "do not make idols/images&bow down to them in worship." Hmm, I wonder why they did that? Because the Pagan Roman Catholic church are IDOLATERS! They still get 10C b/c they split the10th C into 2 "don't covet your neighbors wife(9) & goods (10).. Does anyone know why this was done? To get away with their IDOLATRY BULLSHEET!
Here's the Roman Catholic 10 Commandments
1) I am the Lord thy God. Thou shalt not have strange gods before me.
2) Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.
3) Remember thou keep the Sabbath Day.
4) Honor thy Father and thy Mother.
5) Thou shalt not kill.
6) Thou shalt not commit adultery.
7) Thou shalt not steal.
8) Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.
9) Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife.
10) Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's goods.

HERE ARE THE 10 COMMANDMENTS FROM THE BIBLE
EXODUS 20:1-17 And God spoke all these words, saying,
ONE: 2 “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
3 “You shall have no other gods before me.
TWO: 4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 5 You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.
THREE: 7 “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.
FOUR: 8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
FIVE: 12 “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.
SIX: 13 “You shall not murder.
SEVEN: 14 “You shall not commit adultery.
EIGHT: 15 “You shall not steal.
NINE: 16 “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
TEN: 17 “You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his male servant, or his female servant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor's.”

You can find The Commandments again in
Deuteronomy 5
The Ten Commandments
And Moses summoned all Israel and said to them, “Hear, O Israel, the statutes and the rules that I speak in your hearing today, and you shall learn them and be careful to do them. 2 The Lord our God made a covenant with us in Horeb. 3 Not with our fathers did the Lord make this covenant, but with us, who are all of us here alive today. 4 The Lord spoke with you face to face at the mountain, out of the midst of the fire, 5 while I stood between the Lord and you at that time, to declare to you the word of the Lord. For you were afraid because of the fire, and you did not go up into the mountain. He said:
ONE 6 “‘I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
7 “‘You shall have no other gods before me.
TWO 8 “‘You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 9 You shall not bow down to them or serve them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 10 but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.
THREE 11 “‘You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.
FOUR 12 “‘Observe the Sabbath day, to keep it holy, as the Lord your God commanded you. 13 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 14 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter or your male servant or your female servant, or your ox or your donkey or any of your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates, that your male servant and your female servant may rest as well as you. 15 You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God brought you out from there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. Therefore the Lord your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.
FIVE 16 “‘Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God commanded you, that your days may be long, and that it may go well with you in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.
SIX 17 “‘You shall not murder.
SEVEN 18 “‘And you shall not commit adultery.
EIGHT 19 “‘And you shall not steal.
NINE 20 “‘And you shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
TEN 21 “‘And you shall not covet your neighbor's wife. And you shall not desire your neighbor's house, his field, or his male servant, or his female servant, his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor's.’
