GOD USING FOREIGN ARMIES TO DO HIS WILL IN BRINGING DISASTER & JUDGMENT
Psalm 119:89-91 Forever, O LORD, Your word is settled in heaven. 90Your faithfulness continues throughout all generations; You established the earth, and it stands. 91They stand this day according to Your ordinances, For all things are Your servants.
Yes, all things, the elements, animals, kings, pagans, demons, the devil…. are God’s servants in the sense that they all perform His Sovereign Will. God calls the pagan king Cyrus His anointed (chosen one, messiah), His Shepherd. God calls the pagan king Nebuchadnezzar His servant 3 times. All of creation are at His command to do His will!
- So I, the Lord, affirm that I will send for all the peoples of the north and my servant, King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. I will bring them against this land and its inhabitants and all the nations that surround it. I will utterly destroy the land, its inhabitants, and all the surrounding nations and make them everlasting ruins. I will make them objects of horror and hissing scorn.
- I have at this time placed all these nations of yours under the power of my servant, King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. I have even made all the wild animals subject to him.
- Then tell them, ‘The Lord of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, says, “I will bring my servant King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. I will set his throne over these stones that I have buried. He will pitch his royal tent over them.
- The Great Fish/Whale: Swallowed Jonah for three days and three nights as a form of divine discipline.
- Balaam's Donkey: Saved its owner's life by seeing an angel of the Lord that Balaam could not, and was given the ability to speak.
- Ravens: Brought food (and meat) to the prophet Elijah twice a day while he was hiding in the wilderness.
- Lions: God shut the mouths of the lions in Daniel's den, preventing them from harming him.
- Doves: Sent by Noah from the ark to check for dry land after the flood.
- Fish with a Coin: Provided the tax money for Jesus and Peter in the story of the Temple Tax.
- Bears: Elisha used bears to discipline mocking youths who were disrespecting God's messenger.
- Weather and Phenomena:
- Fire descended on Abraham's covenant, burned Sodom and Gomorrah, and appeared in the burning bush (Genesis 15:17, 19:24, Exodus 3:2).
- Water played a role in creation, the flood, and deliverance through the Red Sea (Genesis 1, 6, Exodus 14).
- Lightning, hail, snow, clouds, and stormy winds were used in the plagues of Egypt (Exodus 9, 10).
- Jesus calmed a storm with a word, demonstrating his authority over nature (Mark 4:39).
- Earth and Plants:
- God formed man from dust and earth (Genesis 2:7).
- Mountains, trees, and flying birds are called to praise the Lord (Psalm 148).
- Celestial Bodies:
- The sun, moon, and stars were created by God and praised Him (Psalm 148).
- Divine power and sovereignty:Nature testifies to God's ultimate control and authority over all creation.
- Communication and guidance:Elements of nature, like the talking donkey, can be used to convey God's message.
- Judgment and salvation: God uses natural events, such as droughts, plagues, or floods, as tools for judgment or to bring about salvation.
- Symbolism: Water symbolizes new life and fresh starts, while fire can represent God's presence or judgment.
- Presence: God can be encountered and experienced through the ordinary and complex wonders of nature.

Unbelieving Israel, in the 1st century, the generation to whom Jesus and the Apostles spoke was THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS, THE PROSTITUTE, WHORE and AN ADULTEROUS GENERATION (30-70AD) that was judged by 70 A.D. The Olivet Discourse in the synoptic gospels (Matt, Mark, Luke) all point to the judgment that would fall on Jerusalem in that generation. The book of Revelation is John's Olivet Discourse which speaks of God's Divorce of Israel, Judgment on Israel and marriage to The Church which is made up of both Jew and Gentile (scattered Israel), The Israel of God/New Jerusalem; the restored kingdom, 2 branches becoming one; The New Man.
That adulterous generation asked for a criminal, Barrabas, instead of Jesus; they several times tried to kill Jesus; they called Jesus a bastard; they said Jesus was a devil and had demons; they screamed to crucify Jesus; they said they had no King but Ceasar; they murdered Jesus; they asked for a generational curse to be upon them by saying, “His blood be upon us and our children!”
God said “Amen!” and they ate their kids in the siege upon Jerusalem by the Romans in fulfillment of Deut 28 curse for breaking the covenant).
"What evil thing can man do in the future that can compare to MURDERING JESUS that can bring about The Great Tribulation?????" This is why THE GREAT TRIBULATION fell upon that generation. No other generation had the Prince of Peace, King of Glory in their presence and then murdered Him. Within context, the Jews were the only people in covenant relations with God. By their ultimate breaking of covenant; the murder of Jesus, this demanded judgment, divorce, execution of adulterer by stoning and burning. This is precisely what took place in 70AD. Jerusalem was struck with large stones and burned.
