1 JOHN 3:2 Letting Scripture interpret Scripture and NOT Creeds, Confessions or Church Traditions
by Tuese
Responding to some brothers at my bible fellowship.

70AD was the judgment that came upon the Great Harlot Unbelieving Israel.  It was also Christ’s return to marry His wife, The Church and to consummate the marriage. During the transition period between 30-70ad, the church, the new temple of God was under construction and reached maturity and was prepared by theApostles to be presented as a chaste virgin to Christ.

1 John 3:2
Beloved, we are God's children now, and
what we will be has not yet appeared;
but we know that when he appears
we shall be like him, because
we shall see him as he is.

The Scripture does not speak of a 3rd return of Christ, men. You know It teaches a 1st century return. You 2 are just like the unbelieving Jews who expect an earthy physical reign of Christ from Jerusalem along with a utopia on earth where you no longer struggle. Sorry the Bible does not teach this.
The Kingdom of God is spiritual. It does not come with observation as our Master said.
Things move from physical to spiritual.

**BELOVED, WE ARE GOD’S CHILDREN NOW (1 John written around 58AD)
Romans 8:15 For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”
Galatians 3:26 for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith.
Ephesians 1:5 he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will,

**WHAT WE WILL BE HAS NOT YET APPEARED
John knew Christ before His death, in His resurrected body before His ascension.  He states his ignorance of what he and other believers will be.
Romans 8:18  For I reckon that the sufferings of the present time[are] not worthy [to be compared] with the glory about to be revealed in us;

2 Corinthians 4:16-18So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. 17 For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, 18 as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

BUT WE KNOW THAT WHEN HE APPEARS
Christ appeared in 70A.D.  see my other articles on verses related to Christ's return
Salvation, Redemption and Righteousness was NOT Completed until Christ returned in 70AD. This is the glory. This is being like Him; receiving His Righteousness.
1 John 2:28 And now, little children, abide in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence and not shrink from him in shame at his coming.
John17:24 Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world.

**WE SHALL BE LIKE HIM
1 Corinthians 15:40-45  There are heavenly bodies and earthly bodies, but the glory of the heavenly is of one kind, and the glory of the earthly is of another. 41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for star differs from star in glory.
42 So is it with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable; what is raised is imperishable. 43 It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power. 44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. 45 Thus it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam became a life-giving spirit. 46 But it is not the spiritual that is first but the natural, and then the spiritual. 47 The first man was from the earth, a man of dust; the second man is from heaven. 48 As was the man of dust, so also are those who are of the dust, and as is the man of heaven, so also are those who are of heaven. 49 Just as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the man of heaven.

 ***Christians are like Christ in His spiritual body by being in the spiritual body of Christ.

**WE SHALL SEE HIM AS HE [IS]
John saw what Christ WAS like in His physical resurrection pre-ascension body.  This is not what John is talking about.  John is talking about seeing Christ as He IS: glorified as THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY. Christ said that He would return in glory of The Father.  Well, The Father came in glory several times in the Old Testament yet He was not physical.  Remember, God is invisible.  He came in glory via judgment through armies, presence...
1Corinthians 13:12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.
Revelation 22:4 They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads.
Matthew 5:8  "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
Matt. 26:63-64 But Jesus remained silent. The high priest said to him, “I charge you under oath by the living God: Tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God.” {64} “Yes, it is as you say,” Jesus replied. “BUT I SAY TO ALL OF YOU: IN THE FUTURE YOU WILL SEE THE SON OF MAN SITTING AT THE RIGHT HAND OF THE MIGHTY ONE AND COMING ON THE CLOUDS OF HEAVEN.”

**Yeshua states that high priest would see Christ at the right hand of The Mighty One coming on the clouds which means He is on the throne to judge!  The High Priest would not physically see Christ but see as in understanding that He was on The Throne when Judgment came upon Jerusalem in 70AD.
