Key regions and countries formerly under Christian rule that were conquered and converted:
- Syria & The Levant (634–641): The first major Byzantine Christian province to be taken.
- Egypt (639–642): A major center of Christianity, captured from the Byzantine Empire.
- North Africa (7th–8th Century): Modern Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, and Morocco, which were part of the Roman and Byzantine world.
- Spain & Portugal (711–718): The Visigothic Kingdom was largely conquered by the Umayyad Caliphate.
- Anatolia/Turkey (11th–15th Century): Through the Seljuk and Ottoman conquests, culminating in the fall of Constantinople.
- The Balkans (14th–15th Century): Including parts of Serbia, Bulgaria, Bosnia, and Albania under the Ottomans.
