SIN - transgressing, breaking THE LAW of God; missing the mark.
One can only SIN if one is UNDER THE COVENANT LAW OF GOD. Who only was under the covenant law of God according to the Bible? ONLY COVENANT ISRAEL!
WORLD - in context is the covenant world of Israel.
- Isaiah 13:11 I will punish the WORLD for its evil, the wicked for their SINS. I will put an end to the arrogance of the haughty and will humble the pride of the ruthless.
- John 1:29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the SIN of the WORLD!
- John 16:8 When he comes, he will prove the WORLD to be in the wrong about SIN and righteousness and judgment:
- Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as SIN entered the WORLD through one man, and death through SIN, and in this way death came to all people, because all SINNED—
- Romans 5:13 To be sure, SIN was in the WORLD before the law was given, but SIN is not charged against anyone’s account where there is no law.
- 2 Corinthians 5:19 that God was reconciling the WORLD to himself in Christ, not counting people’s SINSagainst them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.
- 1 Timothy 1:15 Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the WORLD to save SINNERS—of whom I am the worst.
- Hebrews 9:26 Otherwise Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the WORLD. But he has appeared once for all at the culmination of the ages to do away with SIN by the sacrifice of himself.
- 1 John 2:2 He is the atoning sacrifice for our SINS, and not only for ours but also for the SINS of the whole WORLD.
