A ranked list of my favorite dystopian, apocalyptic, and post-apocalyptic movies.

Movies with tyrannical governments, environmental disasters, excessive corporate control, post-apocalyptic worlds, and monsters/aliens/zombies destroying society. 

I have started adding notes to each movie describing the type or cause of the dystopia. Since I like cyberpunk, I have added a note indicating which I consider cyberpunk. 

I started this list a few years before discovering Letterboxd. Back then, it was between 90 and 100 movies. Hard to believe the list just reached 500 (10/9/2025). 

I am always looking for dystopian or post-apocalyptic recommendations. Recommend away.
