"Giving your heart" or "giving your life" to Jesus In the Bible?

"Giving your heart" or "giving your life" to Jesus is a common expression representing salvation, repentance, and total surrender to God, though these exact phrases are
not directly quoted as a single formula in the Bible. It is rooted in biblical concepts of faith, repentance, and making Jesus Lord of your life.
Key Bible verses and concepts that support this idea include:
  • Surrendering Your Life (Ownership): Romans 12:1 ("present your bodies as a living sacrifice") and Galatians 2:20 ("It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me") describe giving one's life over to Christ.
  • Following Jesus: Matthew 16:24, where Jesus calls to "deny himself, take up his cross daily and follow me".
  • Giving Your Heart (Surrender/Love): Proverbs 23:26 ("My son, give me your heart") and the command to love God with all your heart, soul, and mind (Matthew 22:37).
  • Inviting Christ In: Revelation 3:20 depicts Jesus knocking at the door, often used to represent opening one's heart to Him.
  • Faith and Repentance: Acts 3:19 calls for repentance, and John 3:16 speaks of believing in him.
Essentially, it means transferring the ownership of your life to God, accepting Jesus' sacrifice for sin, and inviting the Holy Spirit to guide your life.
