KING OF THE JEWS

  1. Jesus’ Trial before Pilate

Now Jesus was standing before Pilate, the Roman governor. “Are you the king of the Jews?” the governor asked him. Jesus replied, “You have said it.”

  2. A sign was fastened above Jesus’ head, announcing the charge against him. It read: “This is Jesus, the King of the Jews.”

  3. Pilate asked Jesus, “Are you the king of the Jews?” Jesus replied, “You have said it.”

  4. So Pilate asked him, “Are you the king of the Jews?” Jesus replied, “You have said it.”

  5. Then Pilate went back into his headquarters and called for Jesus to be brought to him. “Are you the king of the Jews?” he asked him.

  6. Jesus answered, “My Kingdom is not an earthly kingdom. If it were, my followers would fight to keep me from being handed over to the Jewish leaders. But my Kingdom is not of this world.”

  7. And Pilate posted a sign on the cross that read, “Jesus of Nazareth, the king of the Jews.”

    1. and from Jesus Christ. He is the faithful witness to these things, the first to rise from the dead, and the ruler of all the kings of the world. All glory to him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by shedding his blood for us.
