April 1st, the beginning of Spring used to be New Year’s Day but when the Catholics changed the calendar from Julian (45BC-1582AD) to Gregorian in (1582-present 2021), January 1 became the new New Year’s Day and became New Year’s Day for the first time in 1582. Those who didn’t get the catholic memo and still celebrated on April 1st were called Fools and made fun of as a propaganda campaign to get everyone with the new program. And thus, the origin of April Fools Day! It took over 300 years for the memo to get to most of the Western world.

1. Jan. Roman god Janus.

2. Feb. Februa, “to cleanse.”

3. Mar. Mars god of war.

4. April Aperio, “to open (bud).” Beginning of Spring and the New Year

5. May Roman goddess Maia.

6. Juno Roman goddess Juno.

7. Fifth (Quintilis) renamed July for Julius Cesar.

8. Sixth (Sextilis) renamed August for Emperor Augustan.

9. SEPTEMber means seventh, 7th.

The months of January and February were added to the calendar because the year used to be just 304 days then the limbo of Winter happened where there were no months. Lol. Thus, the months whose names were the number of the month, got bumped 2 months down. Lol
