JUST QUESTIONING A LOT OF WHAT I HAVE BEEN INDOCTRINATED INTO BY MAINSTREAM CHRISTIANITY.  This is just an outline.  I need to elaborate more later.

REDEEM/ REDEMPTION – Being under the Old Covenant Law and bought back from DEATH.  Only Israel had life and died. 

Redeem, Redemption

(Strong's #1805 — Verb — exagorazo — ex-ag-or-ad'-zo )

a strengthened form of agorazo, "to buy" (see BUY , No. 1), denotes "to buy out" (ex for ek), especially of purchasing a slave with a view to his freedom. It is used metaphorically (a) in  Galatians 3:13 ; 4:5 , of the deliverance by Christ of Christian Israel from the Law and its curse; what is said of lutron (RANSOM, No. 1) is true of this verb and of agorazo, as to the Death of Christ, that Scripture does not say to whom the price was paid; the various suggestions made are purely speculative; (b) in the Middle Voice, "to buy up for oneself," Ephesians 5:16 ; and  Colossians 4:5 , of "buying up the opportunity" (RV marg.; text, "redeeming the time," where "time" is kairos, "a season," a time in which something is seasonable), i.e., making the most of every opportunity, turning each to the best advantage since none can be recalled if missed. 

Note: In  Revelation 5:9 ; 14:3,4 , AV, agorazo, "to purchase" (RV) is translated "redeemed." See PURCHASE.

Hebrews 9:15  Therefore he is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, SINCE A DEATH HAS OCCURRED THAT REDEEMS THEM FROM THE TRANSGRESSIONS COMMITTED UNDER THE FIRST COVENANT.

***BOOM!!!  Did you read that?  “Redeems them from the transgressions committed under THE FIRST COVENANT?  Are people today under the first covenant? NO.  Do people today need to get redeemed from transgression committed under the first covenant?  NO.  

FIRST COVENANT PASSAGES ON REDEMPTION:

Notice how throughout the Old Testament YHWH REDEEMS ISRAEL.

Deuteronomy 21:8  Accept atonement, O Lord, for YOUR PEOPLE ISRAEL, WHOM YOU HAVE REDEEMED, and do not set the guilt of innocent blood in the midst of your people Israel, so that their blood guilt be atoned for.’

    

2 Samuel 7:23  And WHO IS LIKE YOUR PEOPLE ISRAEL, THE ONE NATION ON EARTH WHOM GOD WENT TO REDEEM TO BE HIS PEOPLE, making himself a name and doing for them great and awesome things by driving out before your people, WHOM YOU REDEEMED FOR YOURSELF FROM EGYPT, a nation and its gods?

    

1 Chronicles 17:21  AND WHO IS LIKE YOUR PEOPLE ISRAEL, THE ONE NATION ON EARTH WHOM GOD WENT TO REDEEM TO BE HIS PEOPLE, making for yourself a name for great and awesome things, in driving out nations before your people whom you redeemed from Egypt?

    

Psalm 25:22  REDEEM ISRAEL, O God, out of all his troubles.

    

Psalm 130:8  And he WILL REDEEM ISRAEL FROM ALL HIS INIQUITIES.

    

Isaiah 41:14  Fear not, you worm Jacob, you men of Israel! I am the one who helps you, declares the Lord; YOUR REDEEMER IS THE HOLY ONE OF ISRAEL.

    

Isaiah 43:1  [ Israel's Only Savior ] But now thus says the Lord, HE WHO CREATED YOU, O JACOB, HE WHO FORMED YOU, O ISRAEL: “FEAR NOT, FOR I HAVE REDEEMED YOU; I have called you by Name, you are mine.

    

Isaiah 43:14  Thus says the Lord, YOUR REDEEMER, THE HOLY ONE OF ISRAEL: “For your sake I send to Babylon and bring them all down as fugitives, even the Chaldeans, in the ships in which they rejoice.

    

Isaiah 44:6  [ Besides Me There Is No God ] Thus says the Lord, THE KING OF ISRAEL AND HIS REDEEMER, the Lord of hosts: “I am the first and I am the last; besides me there is no god.

        

Isaiah 44:23  Sing, O heavens, for the Lord has done it; shout, O depths of the earth; break forth into singing, O mountains, O forest, and every tree in it! FOR THE LORD HAS REDEEMED JACOB, AND WILL BE GLORIFIED IN ISRAEL.

    

Isaiah 47:4  OUR REDEEMER—the Lord of hosts is his name— IS THE HOLY ONE OF ISRAEL.

    

Isaiah 48:17  Thus says the Lord, YOUR REDEEMER, THE HOLY ONE OF ISRAEL: “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you in the way you should go.

    

Isaiah 49:7  Thus says the Lord, THE REDEEMER OF ISRAEL and his Holy One, to one deeply despised, abhorred by the nation, the servant of rulers: “Kings shall see and arise; princes, and they shall prostrate themselves; because of the Lord, who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.”

    

Isaiah 54:5 For your Maker is your husband, the Lord of hosts is his name; AND THE HOLY ONE OF ISRAEL IS YOUR REDEEMER, the God of the whole earth he is called.

    

Isaiah 63:16  For you are our Father, though Abraham does not know us, and Israel does not acknowledge us; you, O Lord, are our Father, OUR REDEEMER from of old is your name.

NEW COVENANT PASSAGES ON REDEMPTION: 

Luke 1:68  “Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for he has visited and REDEEMED HIS PEOPLE

**Christ visited/came to redeem His people.  Who were His people?

Luke 2:38  And coming up at that very hour she began to give thanks to God and to speak of him to all who were waiting for the REDEMPTION of Jerusalem.

**The redemption of who?  The timing as to when the Redemption would come tells a lot about its nature and for whom it was meant.

Luke 21:28  Now when these things begin to take place, straighten up and raise your heads, because your REDEMPTION is drawing near.”

**The Redemption would happen 1^st century 70AD at the destruction of Jerusalem that's what Christ means by saying "when these things begin to take place (wars, Jerusalem surrounded by armies, sun going black, moon turning to blood...).  see context.

Luke 24:21  But we had hoped that he was the one to REDEEM ISRAEL. Yes, and besides all this, it is now the third day since these things happened.

**Redeem who?

Romans 3:24  and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the REDEMPTION that is in Christ Jesus,

***Who was promised redemption?

Romans 8:23Not only so, but ourselves also, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for adoption, the redemption of our body (body singular, as in a single corporate body).

**To whom was promised the adoption?  

Romans 9:4 "They are Israelites, and to them belong the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises."

1 Corinthians 1:30  And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and REDEMPTION,

***Who needed redemption?  Is it not those who transgressed the law?  Who was under Law?

Galatians 3:13  Christ REDEEMED US from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”—

**Are Christians under the curse of THE LAW?  Were Christians ever under THE LAW?  Who was under Law when the New Testament was being written?

Galatians 4:5  to REDEEM THOSE WHO WERE UNDER THE LAW, so that we might receive adoption as sons.

***Who was UNDER THE LAW?  OLD COVENANT ISRAEL
Are Christians today 21st century under The Law???  NOPE!

Ephesians 1:7  In him we have REDEMPTION through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,

***Who was promised redemption?  The First Covenant Israel

Ephesians 4:30  And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of REDEMPTION.

When did the day of Redemption occur?  70AD

Colossians 1:14  in whom we have REDEMPTION, the forgiveness of sins.

***Who gets redeemed and their sins forgiven?  The First Covenant Israel

Titus 2:14  who gave himself for us TO REDEEM US FROM ALL LAWLESSNESS and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.

***Who is redeemed from all lawlessness?  Who was under The Law?

Hebrews 9:11-12 But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things that have come, then through the greater and more perfect tent (not made with hands, that is, not of this creation)  12 he entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal REDEMPTION.

***Who did Christ come to redeem?

Revelation 14:3-4

and they were singing a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and before the elders. No one could learn that song except THE 144,000 WHO HAD BEEN REDEEMED FROM THE EARTH.  4It is these who have not defiled themselves with women, for they are virgins. It is these who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. These have been REDEEMED FROM MANKIND as firstfruits for God and the Lamb,

***Who were the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth/land of Israel?  
Btw, for those of you unaware, Revelation was fulfilled by 70AD.

**Are you redeemed????  I do not believe that I am redeemed because I do not see Scripture teaching that redemption is for me.  It was for those under the first covenant and transgressed IT; Israel.

HAS THIS STUDY MADE YOU RE-THINK THAT SONG: "LET THE REDEEM OF THE LORD SAY SO...?"  LOL.  

QUESTION:  HOW DO PEOPLE TODAY ENTER INTO COVENANT WITH YHWH?  CAN THEY?
