The Abomination that causes desolation and Jerusalem surrounded by armies and leveled in 70AD By Tuese Ahkiong

The Olivet Discourse in Matthew, Mark and Luke is a teaching that Christ gave to His disciples of the fall of Jerusalem/ The Temple. Christ is responding to His disciples’ questions (when will this take place? what will be the sign of your coming and the end of the age? Matt 24:3). Christ answers His disciples right in front of him about events that would happen in their life time and not to a future generation. Therefore, the pronoun “you” in these passages refers to the disciples who were with Yeshua and not future disciples detached by 2000+ years. Christ said that the temple would come down in his generation and it did in 70AD. He also said the following events would occur in his generation: The Gospel would go out to the world (oikemene), The Great Tribulation; Sun Darkened, Moon turned to blood; false Christ, abomination of desolation.
Daniel Prophesied the abomination that causes desolation would take place with the destruction of the power of the holy people, the temple. see Daniel 12:1-7
Dan 12
:1 “At that time shall arise Michael, the great prince who has charge of your people. And there shall be a time of trouble, such as never has been since there was a nation till that time. But at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone whose name shall be found written in the book. 2 And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. 3 And those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky above; and those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever. 4 But you, Daniel, shut up the words and seal the book, until the time of the end. Many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.”
5 Then I, Daniel, looked, and behold, two others stood, one on this bank of the stream and one on that bank of the stream. 6 And someone said to the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the stream, “How long shall it be till the end of these wonders?” 7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the stream; he raised his right hand and his left hand toward heaven and swore by him who lives forever that it would be for a time, times, and half a time, and that WHEN THE SHATTERING OF THE POWER OF THE HOLY PEOPLE COMES TO AN END ALL THESE THINGS WOULD BE FINISHED. 8 I heard, but I did not understand. Then I said, “O my lord, what shall be the outcome of these things?” 9He said, “Go your way, Daniel, for the words are shut up and sealed until the time of the
end. 10 Many shall purify themselves and make themselves white and be refined, but the wicked shall act wickedly. And none of the wicked shall understand, but those who are wise shall understand. 11 And from the time that the regular burnt offering is taken away and THE ABOMINATION THAT MAKES DESOLATE is set up, there shall be 1,290 days. 12 Blessed is he who waits and arrives at the 1,335 days. 13 But go your way till the end. And you shall rest and shall stand in your allotted place at the end of the days.”
***The holy people at the time of Daniel were The Old Covenant people, the Jews. They became prideful, arrogant and boasted in their temple and covenant with God. This is what was shattered in 70AD. Futurists want to reinstitute the sacrificial system in a new temple to fulfill what has already been fulfilled in Christ. To set up a sacrificial system again is a SLAP IN THE FACE YESHUA. Since then there has been no more sacrifice.
In verse 1 we see a trouble as never has been seen by a nation which is THE GREAT TRIBULATION. We also see God's people being DELIVERED or saved. Verse 2 is obviously THE RESURRECTION of the righteous and wicked. Verse 3 speaks of the saints living and shining in THE KINGDOM.
THE DAYS OF VENGEANCE AGAINST APOSTATE ISRAEL
Matt 21
: 37 Finally he sent his son to them, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’ 38 But when the tenants saw the son, they said to themselves, ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and have his inheritance.’ 39 And they took him and threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. 40 When therefore the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those tenants?” 41 They said to him, “He will put those wretches to a miserable death and let out the vineyard to other tenants who will give him the fruits in their seasons.”
42 Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the Scriptures: “‘The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; this was the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes’? 43Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you (APOSTATE JEWS) and given to a people producing its fruits. 44 And the one who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; and when it falls on anyone, it will crush him.”
Matt 22
:7 The king was angry, and he sent his troops and destroyed those murderers and burned their city. 8 Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding feast is ready, but those invited were not worthy.
**Yeshua speaks this parable against the apostate Jews who city would be destroyed in 70 A.D.
Luke 18
:7 And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? 8 I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”
**Justice was given to the 1st century saints within their lifetime and not 2000+ years into the future after they are all dead.
Matt 23
:29-36 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you build the tombs of the prophets and decorate the monuments of the righteous, 30 saying, ‘If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’ 31 Thus you witness against yourselves that you are sons of those who murdered the prophets. 32 Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers. 33 You serpents, you brood of vipers, how are you to escape being sentenced to hell? 34 Therefore I send you prophets and wise men and scribes, some of whom you will kill and crucify, and some you will flog in your synagogues and persecute from town to town, 35 so that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah the son of Barachiah, whom you murdered between the sanctuary and the altar. 36 Truly, I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation.
**Yeshua states that the apostate Jews would pay within their 1st century generation which was in 70 A.D.
2 Thess 1
:4-8 Therefore we ourselves boast about you in the churches of God for your steadfastness and faith in all your persecutions and in the afflictions that you are enduring.
5 This is evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are also suffering— 6 since indeed God considers it just to repay with affliction those who afflict you, 7 and to grant relief to you who are afflicted as well as to us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels 8 in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.
**Those apostate Jews who persecuted the Thessalonian saints were repaid with affliction when Christ was revealed from heaven in 70 A.D.
Revelation 6
:9-11 When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the witness they had borne. 10 They cried out with a loud voice, “O Sovereign Lord, holy and true, how long before you will judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?” 11 Then they were each given a white robe and told to rest a little longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brothers should be complete, who were to be killed as they themselves had been.
**Who did Yeshua say would be responsible for the blood of the saints all the way back to Abel? See Matt 23
Rev 19
:1-2 After this I heard what seemed to be the loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, crying out, “Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, 2 for his judgments are true and just; for he has judged the great prostitute who corrupted the earth with her immorality, and has
avenged on her the blood of his servants.”
***Who did Yeshua say would be responsible for the blood of the saints? see Matt 23:29-36 The Apostate Jews who murdered the saints and their Christ.
THE ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION
Matt 24
:15 “Therefore when you see THE ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION
which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (LET THE READER UNDERSTAND), 16 then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains.
Mark 13
:14 “But when you see THE ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION
standing where it should not be (LET THE READER UNDERSTAND),
then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains.
**Mathew and Mark are written to a Jewish audience. Yeshua is eluding to Daniel’s prophecies in Daniel 9:27, 11:31, 12:11. The prophesies of Daniel that Yeshua is referring to is what the reader should understand.
Luke’s Gospel was written to a non-Jewish audience. Notice how he describes Christ’s mentioning of the desolation. He adds Jerusalem being surrounded by armies. This gives of us insight into what the abomination of desolation is; Jerusalem’s destruction by armies in the life time of the 1st century disciples.
Luke 21:
20 “BUT WHEN YOU SEE JERUSALEM SURROUNDED BY ARMIES, then know that its DESOLATION has come near. 21 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, and let those who are inside the city depart, and let not those who are out in the country enter it, 22 FOR THESE ARE DAYS OF VENGEANCE, TO FULFILL ALL THAT IS WRITTEN. 23 Alas for women who are pregnant and for those who are nursing infants in those days! For there will be great distress upon the earth and wrath against this people. 24 They will fall by the edge of the sword and be led captive among all nations, and JERUSALEM WILL BE TRAMPLED UNDERFOOT BY THE GENTILES, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
**Christ said that when the disciples saw Jerusalem surrounded by armies that would be the days of vengeance to FULFILL ALL THAT IS WRITTEN.
Remember, Christ came not to abolish the law and the prophets but to fulfill them.
**The Gentiles that trampled Jerusalem were the Romans. They were the 4th and last kingdom of Nebuchadnezzar’s dream when… Daniel 2:44
**The context in which Christ is stating this is in relationship to Daniel’s reference to the Abomination of Desolation which was Jerusalem’s destruction. This also pertains to THE DAYS OF VENGEANCE when God avenges the death of His people and His Son.
DANIEL’S PROPHESIES FULFILLED
Dan 9
:24 “Seventy weeks are decreed about your people and your holy city, to finish the transgression, to put an end to sin, and to atone for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal both vision and prophet, and to anoint a most holy place. 25 Know therefore and understand that from the going out of the word to restore and build Jerusalem to the coming of an anointed one, a prince, there shall be seven weeks. Then for sixty-two weeks it shall be built again with squares and moat, but in a troubled time. 26 And after the sixty-two weeks, an anointed one shall be cut off and shall have nothing. AND THE PEOPLE OF THE PRINCE WHO IS TO COME SHALL DESTROY THE CITY AND THE SANCTUARY. Its end shall come with a flood, and to the end there shall be war. DESOLATIONS are decreed. 27 And he shall make a strong covenant with many for one week, and for half of the week he shall put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of ABOMINATION shall come one who makes DESOLATE, until the decreed end is poured out on THE DESOLATOR.”
Dan 9:24-27 is the passage of Scripture where many modern day prophecy teachers proclaim the Antichrist to make a covenant with the Jews for 1 week and then breaks it in the middle. The Scripture teaches that person being spoken of is not the Antichrist but who it says it is, The Messiah, Yeshua.
Scripture is our Authority and not self-appointed prophecy experts.
24”Seventy weeks have been decreed for your people and your holy city, to finish the transgression, to make an end of sin, to make atonement for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy place.
[Verse 24 describes the main event of the 70 weeks of Daniel’s vision … redemption accomplished by
Jesus the Messiah who was “cut off” crucified in the middle of the 70th week!
…to anoint the most holy:
This anointing was fulfilled at the baptism of Jesus when the Holy Spirit descended upon Him! Luke 3:21-22; 4:18-22; Acts 10:38
…to finish the transgression… :
“…He was wounded for our transgressions.”
…to make an end of sin… :
An “end of sins” in that, by Christ’s perfect sacrifice, the sins of His people were forgiven, and there remained no more sacrifice for sins! Matt. 1.21; Heb 9.22, 26
…to make reconciliation for iniquity… :
Christ, by dying for our sins, has reconciled us to God! Isa 59.2; 2 Cor 5.19
…to bring in everlasting righteousness… :
The sins of God’s people were put upon Christ, and His perfect righteousness was credited to them forever! Rom 3:21-26; 2 Cor 5.21; Heb 9.12 1 Pet 2.24
…to seal up the vision and prophecy… :
To seal a document showed that it was genuine. Christ sealed up the Old Testament by doing what it said He would do! Jer 32.10; 1 King 21.8Christ fulfilled the law and the prophets as He said He came to do Matt 5:17-18
25”So you are to know and discern that from the issuing of a decree to restore and rebuild
Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince there will be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; it will be built again, with plaza and moat, even in times of distress.
26”Then after the sixty-two weeks the Messiah will be cut off and have nothing, and the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary And its end will come with a flood; even to the end there will be war; DESOLATIONS are determined.
**THIS IS WHERE DISPENSATIONALISTS EISOGETE and turn MESSIAH/ANOINTED ONE INTO THE ANTICHRIST. Lol
… after the sixty-two
weeks the Messiah will be cut off and have nothing…: Notice, The Messiah is cut off after the 69 “weeks,” which must be the 70th week! …The Messiah is cut off after the 69 weeks, not “in” or “during” the 69th week!
The text is perfectly clear… and the 70th week immediately follows the 69th week! Therefore, everything in verses 26 and 27 pertaining to Christ’s atonement takes place within the 70th week of the prophecy!
27”And he will make a firm covenant with the many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering; and on the wing of ABOMINATIONS will come one who makes DESOLATE, even until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, is poured out on the one who makes DESOLATE.”
Christ died for the sins of his people! {Matt 1:21 ...he will save his people from their sins.”}
Christ is called “Messiah the prince vs.25…He rules the world Ps.22.28; Isa 45.1; Hab 1.6, and
“The people of the Prince” are those He later uses to destroy Jerusalem in 70A.D. It is mentioned here as a reminder that our Lord also executes judgment on covenant breakers! But this is not a redemptive act of the 70th week.
Christ confirms the covenant with Israel for 1 week 70th week, after which the Gospel goes to the gentiles (scattered israelites who became like pagans). {Matt. 26:28 This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.}
Christ, by His perfect and final sacrifice on the cross, forever nullified the requirement for animal sacrifices and other offerings on the temple altar! Heb 7.27, 9.11-15, 10.10-14
It took 7 “weeks” of years, 7*7=49 or 49 years, for the rebuilding to be completed due to the difficulty of the work and interference from hostile neighbors. Ezra 4.1
The second consecutive segment of 62 “weeks” of years, 62*7 or 434 years, extends to Christ’s first advent! The divisions in the 70 weeks simply mark historic events, not gaps!
Dan 11:
29 “At the appointed time he will return and come into the South, but this last time it will not turn out the way it did before. 30 For ships of Kittim will come against him; therefore he will be disheartened and will return and become enraged at the holy covenant and take action; so he will come back and show
regard for those who forsake the holy covenant. 31 Forces from him will arise, DESECRATE the sanctuary fortress, and do away with the regular sacrifice. And they will set up THE ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION.
32 By smooth words he will turn to godlessness those who act wickedly toward the covenant, but the people who know their God will display strength and take action. 33 Those who have insight among the people will give understanding to the many; yet they will fall by sword and by flame, by captivity and by plunder for many days. 34 Now when they fall they will be granted a little help, and many will join with them in hypocrisy. 35 Some of those who have insight will fall, in order to refine, purge and make them pure until the end time; because it is still to come at the appointed time.
**This prophecy was fulfilled by 70 A.D.
