THE DAY OF… OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST
By Tuese Ahkiong
The day of Our Lord Jesus Christ is
a day in which God, The Father has appointed The Son to exercise judgment upon
unfaithful apostate covenant breaking old testament Israel (70AD). The phrase does not mean that God/ Christ
will judge and destroy the physical world.
Through out Scripture it means God is judging a nation or people. God judging Babylon would be The day of the lord is coming upon the world of Babylon.
Joel 2:1 Blow the trumpet in Zion, And sound an alarm in My holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants ofthe land tremble; For the day of the Lord is coming, For it is at hand: Joel 2:31The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord.
Zechariah 14:1-2.
Behold, the day of the Lord is coming,And your spoil will be divided in your midst.2 For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem; The city shall be taken,The houses rifled,And the women ravished.Half of the city shall go into captivity,But the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
John 5:22
The Father judges no one, but has given ALL JUDGMENT TO
THE SON,
John 5:27
And he has given HIM
AUTHORITY TO EXECUTE JUDGMENT,
BECAUSE HE IS THE SON OF
MAN.
Acts
17:31 because HE HAS FIXED
A DAY ON WHICH HE WILL
JUDGE THE WORLD in righteousness BY
A MAN WHOM HE HAS APPOINTED;
and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead.”
Romans 2:16 ON THAT DAY when,
according to my gospel, GOD JUDGES
THE SECRETS OF MEN BY CHRIST JESUS.
**The Old Covenant was being
judged. This took place at the
destruction of Jerusalem in 70A.D.
1 Corinthians 1:8 who will sustain you to the end,
guiltless in THE DAY OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST.
**Paul
is speaking to living breathing Corinthian Christians that they would be
sustained and guiltless until the end of Old Covenant which came on Christ’s
judgment upon it in 70 A.D., that generation.
2
Corinthians 1:14 just as you did partially understand us—that on THE DAY OF OUR
LORD JESUS you
will boast of us as we will boast of you.
**Paul
encourages the Corinthian Christians that they would boast in Paul and his
companions and vice versa on the day of their Lord Jesus.
Philippians 1:6 And I am sure of this,
that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at THE DAY OF JESUS CHRIST.
**Paul
tells the Philippians that God who began a good work in them will complete it
by THE DAY OF JESUS CHRIST.
Philippians 1:10 so that you may approve what is
excellent, and so be pure and blameless for THE DAY OF CHRIST,
**Paul
is encouraging the Philippians that they would be pure and blameless for THE
DAY OF CHRIST.
Philippians 2:16 holding fast to the word of life,
so that in THE DAY OF CHRIST I
may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain.
**Paul connects his ministry among the Philippians in
producing mature saints not being in vain at THE DAY OF CHRIST.
2
Thessalonians 2:2 not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by
word or by letter, as if from us, as though THE DAY OF CHRIST had come.
**Paul tells the Thessalonians not to be disturbed by rumors
that THE DAY OF CHRIST had come already.
This means the 1st century saints had a different concept
about the nature of THE DAY OF CHRIST from modern day 21st century
saints. Modern day Christians believe
that THE DAY OF CHRIST is an earth shattering, earth melting, Star Wars explosions of earth… If this was what the
Thessalonians believed about the nature of THE DAY OF CHRIST, then how could
they be fooled?
Revelation 1:9-11 I, John, your brother and partner IN THE TRIBULATION AND THE KINGDOM and the
patient endurance that are in Jesus, was on the island called Patmos on
account of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus. 10 I was in the Spirit on THE
LORD'S DAY, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a
trumpet 11 saying, “Write what you
see in a book and send it to the seven churches, to Ephesus and to Smyrna and
to Pergamum and to Thyatira and to Sardis and to Philadelphia and to Laodicea.”
***THE LORD’S DAY, contrary to church “tradition” is NOT
Sunday but The Day of The LORD or The Day of Christ Jesus in which Christ
judges unfaithful apostate covenant breaking Israel. John was given a vision of Christ judging
unfaithful Old Covenant Israel.
