a little while

  2. For A LITTLE WHILE they are exalted, and then they are gone; they are brought low and gathered up like all others; they are cut off like heads of grain.

  3. A LITTLE WHILE, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found.

  4. Go, my people, enter your rooms and shut the doors behind you; hide yourselves for A LITTLE WHILE until his wrath has passed by.

  5. For A LITTLE WHILE your people possessed your holy place, but now our enemies have trampled down your sanctuary.

  6. “Therefore say: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Although I sent them far away among the nations and scattered them among the countries, yet for A LITTLE WHILE I have been a sanctuary for them in the countries where they have gone.’

  7. “This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘In A LITTLE WHILE I will once more shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land.

  8. After A LITTLE WHILE, those standing there went up to Peter and said, “Surely you are one of them; your accent gives you away.”

  9. Again he denied it. After A LITTLE WHILE, those standing near said to Peter, “Surely you are one of them, for you are a Galilean.”

  10. Then Jesus told them, “You are going to have the light just A LITTLE WHILE longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. Whoever walks in the dark does not know where they are going.

  11. The Disciples’ Grief Will Turn to Joy

    Jesus went on to say, “In A LITTLE WHILE you will see me no more, and then after A LITTLE WHILE you will see me.”

  12. At this, some of his disciples said to one another, “What does he mean by saying, ‘In A LITTLE WHILE you will see me no more, and then after A LITTLE WHILE you will see me,’ and ‘Because I am going to the Father’ ?”

  13. They kept asking, “What does he mean by ‘ A LITTLE WHILE ? We don’t understand what he is saying.”

  14. Jesus saw that they wanted to ask him about this, so he said to them, “Are you asking one another what I meant when I said, ‘In A LITTLE WHILE you will see me no more, and then after A LITTLE WHILE you will see me’?

  15. But a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law, who was honored by all the people, stood up in the Sanhedrin and ordered that the men be put outside for A LITTLE WHILE.

  16. Even if I caused you sorrow by my letter, I do not regret it. Though I did regret it—I see that my letter hurt you, but only for A LITTLE WHILE

  17. Perhaps the reason he was separated from you for A LITTLE WHILE was that you might have him back forever—

  18. But we do see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for A LITTLE WHILE, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.

  19. For, “In just A LITTLE WHILE, he who is coming will come and will not delay.”

  20. They disciplined us for A LITTLE WHILE as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness.

  21. Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for A LITTLE WHILE and then vanishes.

  22. In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for A LITTLE WHILE you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.

  23. And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered A LITTLE WHILE, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.

  24. They are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come; but when he does come, he must remain for only A LITTLE WHILE.
