Christ & Paul were AIO
by Morgan Bradford
Paul said....And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise. (Gal 3:29)
What kind of seed was that?
According to Gen 15:4-5, a physical seed, not spiritual.
4 Then behold, the word of the Lord came to him, saying, “This man will not be your heir; but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir.” 5 And He took him outside and said, “Now look toward the heavens and count the stars, if you are able to count them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.”
Thus, only physical descendants of Abraham (through Isaac) could be Christ’s. It follows inescapably that any gentile who was saved was a descendant of Abraham.
Who was the promise for?
Acts 2:38-39 shows the promise was for Israelites.
38 Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far away, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself.”
Romans 9:3-4 says the promises were for fleshly Israel.
3 For I could wish that I myself were accursed, separated from Christ for the sake of my countrymen, my kinsmen according to the flesh, 4 who are Israelites, to whom belongs the adoption as sons and daughters, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the Law, the temple service, and the promises;
Acts 13:32 says the promise was to their [Israelite] fathers and fulfilled for their children, which would be their physical descendants.
32 And we preach to you the good news of the promise made to the fathers,
Acts 26:6 says the promises were made to their (Israelite) fathers and
6 And now I am standing trial for the hope of the promise made by God to our fathers;
Acts 26:7 says the twelve tribes [of Israel] hoped to attain the promises.
7 the promise to which our twelve tribes hope to attain, as they earnestly serve God night and day. For this hope, O king, I am being accused by Jews.
Where do non-Israelites fit into all of this? Nowhere.
And Jesus said…
Luk 19:9 “Today salvation has come to this house, since he also is a son of Abraham.
Luk 19:10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
Nobody today is a son of Abraham before the end of the age so you were never lost. Since you were never lost, you never needed to be found, gathered up and returned to the fold, sewed, saved and redeemed.
