Who did YESHUA DIE FOR?
By Tuese Ahkiong
Hermeneutic considerations:
Who is being spoken TO in these passage that speak of Christ DIED FOR?
Who is the us, our, we, all in these passages that
speak of who Christ DIED FOR?
Romans 5:6-8
6 For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ
DIED FOR the ungodly. 7 For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good
person one would dare even to die— 8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were
still sinners, Christ DIED FOR
us.
***Who are the
ungodly? Who is the us?
3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I
also received: that Christ DIED FOR OUR sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third
day in accordance with the Scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.
***Who is the our?
2 Corinthians 5:14-15
14 For the love of Christ controls us, because we have
concluded this: that one has DIED FOR ALL, therefore all have died; 15 and he DIED
FOR ALL, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but
for him who for their sake died and was raised.
***Who are the
all in this passage?
Galatians 2:20-21
20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I
who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I
live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. 21 I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness were through the
law, then Christ DIED FOR no
purpose.
***What was the
purpose of Christ’s death?
1 Thessalonians 5:9-11
9 For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain
salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 who DIED FOR
us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him. 11 Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are
doing.
***Who is the us
in this passage?
