WILL THERE BE SEX IN HEAVEN? WILL THERE BE MARRIAGE IN HEAVEN? by Tuese Ahkiong

WILL THERE BE SEX IN HEAVEN?
WILL THERE BE MARRIAGE IN HEAVEN?
by Tuese Ahkiong

The parable posed to Yeshua by the Sadducees does not mention the state of being in heaven but being LIKE angels in heaven.  Therefore, the Sadducees and their story of the 7 husbands and 1 wife does not address the 2nd question of this article's title or the first.  Most Christians today assume that this passage is talking about the state of existence in heaven, but after a careful reading, one will see that it is speaking of a person's condition in the New Covenant Age and Resurrection.  It is the writer's conviction that The Resurrection is not physical but spiritual and took place in 70AD.

For those of you who want the answer to the first question: Yes, male and female.  ;-)

Levirate marriage is a type of marriage in which the brother of a deceased man is obliged to marry his brother's widow, and the widow is obliged to marry her deceased husband's brother and MAKE BABIES.  The Jews advanced the kingdom through child birth.

Luke 20

27 There came to him some Sadducees, those who deny that there is a resurrection, 28 and they asked him a question, saying, “Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man's brother dies, having a wife but no children, the man must take the widow and raise up offspring for his brother. 29 Now there were seven brothers. The first took a wife, and died without children. 30 And the second 31 and the third took her, and likewise all seven left no children and died. 32 Afterward the woman also died. 33 In the resurrection, therefore, whose wife will the woman be? For the seven had her as wife.”

34 And Jesus said to them, “The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage, 35 but those who are considered worthy to attain to THAT AGE and to the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage, 36 for they cannot die anymore, because they are equal to angels and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection. 37 But that the dead are raised, even Moses showed, in the passage about the bush, where he calls the Lord the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.38 Now he is not God of the dead, but of the living, for all live to him.” 39 Then some of the scribes answered, “Teacher, you have spoken well.” 40 For they no longer dared to ask him any question.

NOTES
33 The Sadducees were thinking when the resurrection came whose wife will she be of the 7 brothers.  The Saduccees did not believe in the resurrection so why did they ask "whose wife will the woman be?"  Is this not a question they are trying to trick Yeshua with?

34  Yeshua skools them.  the sons of THIS AGE (Old Covenant/Judaism) are given in marriage.  Jews expanded the kingdom through marriage and child birth.  They would perform the LEVIRITE marriage on behalf of a deceased brother to bare kids and continue his name.

35 those who are worthy are those who trust in Yeshua
"that age" is the New Covenant Age which is here and has no end
the resurrection from the dead is being made spiritually alive to God by faith in Yeshua and that takes place in the New Covenant Age.
those in "that age" and "the resurrection from the dead" do not marry nor are given in marriage because the kingdom is no longer advanced through marriage and making babies.  Today, in the New Covenant Age even eunuchs can bare fruit for the Kingdom because the kingdom is advanced not by child birth but by sharing the Gospel.

36 they cannot die anymore because they are spiritually alive to God, equal to angels, sons of God and being sons of the resurrection (spiritually raised from "the death")
John 8:52  The Jews said to him, “Now we know that you have a demon! Abraham died, as did the prophets, yet you say, ‘If anyone keeps my word, he will never taste death.’
John 11: 24 Martha said to him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day.” 25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, 26 and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

37 Abraham, Isaac and Jacob are alive to God, not dead.

MARK 12

18 And Sadducees came to him, who say that there is no resurrection. And they asked him a question, saying, 19 “Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man's brother dies and leaves a wife, but leaves no child, the man must take the widow and raise up offspring for his brother. 20 There were seven brothers; the first took a wife, and when he died left no offspring. 21 And the second took her, and died, leaving no offspring. And the third likewise. 22 And the seven left no offspring. Last of all the woman also died.23 In the resurrection, when they rise again, whose wife will she be? For the seven had her as wife.”
24 Jesus said to them, “Is this not the reason you are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God? 25 For when they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven. 26 And as for the dead being raised, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the passage about the bush, how God spoke to him, saying, ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? 27 He is not God of the dead, but of the living. You are quite wrong.”

NOTES
24 What did they not know about the Scriptures and God's power?
Yeshua tells the Sadducees that they do not know The Scriptures or the power of God, and therefore they are wrong.  They are wrong that they do not believe in the resurrection and they are wrong in trying to trick Yeshua with a misunderstanding of the resurrection.
25 when the resurrection takes place, in 70AD, at the destruction of Jerusalem, saints are taken out of the body of Moses which is symbolized by the law and the ministry of death and brought into the body of Christ.  They don't marry nor are given in marriage anymore because the kingdom is no longer advance through childbirth but through faith.  Saints are like angels in that they are elect of God.

Matthew 22

23 The same day Sadducees came to him, who say that there is no resurrection, and they asked him a question, 24 saying, “Teacher, Moses said, ‘If a man dies having no children, his brother must marry the widow and raise up offspring for his brother.’ 25 Now there were seven brothers among us. The first married and died, and having no offspring left his wife to his brother. 26 So too the second and third, down to the seventh. 27 After them all, the woman died. 28 In the resurrection, therefore, of the seven, whose wife will she be? For they all had her.”

29 But Jesus answered them, “You are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God. 30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven. 31 And as for the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was said to you by God: 32 ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not God of the dead, but of the living.” 33 And when the crowd heard it, they were astonished at his teaching.

NOTES
30   in the resurrection 70AD forward the kingdom is no longer advanced through childbearing but through faith in The Gospel of Grace.

Even Eunuchs become fruitful

Isaiah 56
Let not the foreigner who has joined himself to the Lord say,
    “The Lord will surely separate me from his people”;
and let not the eunuch say,
“Behold, I am a dry tree.”
For thus says the Lord:
“To the eunuchs who keep my Sabbaths,
who choose the things that please me
    and hold fast my covenant,
I will give in my house and within my walls
    a monument and a name
    better than sons and daughters;
I will give them an everlasting name
that shall not be cut off.

ACTS 8:26-40
Philip and the Ethiopian Eunuch
26 Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Rise and go toward the south to the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” This is a desert place. 27 And he rose and went. And there was anEthiopian, a eunuch, a court official of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who was in charge of all her treasure. He had come to Jerusalem to worship 28 and was returning, seated in his chariot, and he was reading the prophet Isaiah. 29 And the Spirit said to Philip, “Go over and join this chariot.” 30 So Philip ran to him and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet and asked, “Do you understand what you are reading?” 31 And he said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him. 32 Now the passage of the Scripture that he was reading was this:
“Like a sheep he was led to the slaughter
and like a lamb before its shearer is silent,
so he opens not his mouth.
33 In his humiliation justice was denied him.
    Who can describe his generation?
For his life is taken away from the earth.”
34 And the eunuch said to Philip, “About whom, I ask you, does the prophet say this, about himself or about someone else?” 35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning with this Scripture he told him the good news about Jesus. 36 And as they were going along the road they came to some water, and the eunuch said, “See, here is water! What prevents me from being baptized?” 38 And he commanded the chariot to stop, and they both went down into the water, Philip and the eunuch, and he baptized him. 39 And when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord carried Philip away, and the eunuch saw him no more, and went on his way rejoicing. 40 But Philip found himself at Azotus, and as he passed through he preached the gospel to all the towns until he came to Caesarea.

***Eunuchs are no longer outcasts but brought in through The Gospel and are able to bare fruit for the Kingdom.

Isaiah 56:3-5

English Standard Version (ESV)
Let not the foreigner who has joined himself to the Lord say,
    “The Lord will surely separate me from his people”;
and let not the EUNUCH say,
“Behold, I am a dry tree.”
For thus says the Lord:
“To the EUNUCHS who keep my Sabbaths,
who choose the things that please me
    and hold fast my covenant,
I will give in my house and within my walls
    a monument and a name
    better than sons and daughters;
I will give them an everlasting name
that shall not be cut off.

MATTHEW 19
27 Then Peter said in reply, “See, we have left everything and followed you. What then will we have?” 28 Jesus said to them, “Truly, I say to you, in the new world, when the Son of Man will sit on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands, for my name's sake, will receive a hundredfold and inherit eternal life. 30 But many who are first will be last, and the last first.

27 Yeshua was speaking to Peter and the disciples.
28  The new world is the new covenant age which is present now and forever more.  Yeshua is enthroned now and reigns forever more.
The "you" are the Peter and the disciples
29 eternal life takes place in the New Covenant Age, The New World.

MARK 10:26-30
29 Jesus said, “Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands, for my sake and for the gospel,30 who will not receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and in the age to come eternal life. 31 But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”

Luke 18:26-30

English Standard Version (ESV)
26 Those who heard it said, “Then who can be saved?” 27 But he said, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.” 28 And Peter said, “See, we have left our homes and followed you.” 29 And he said to them, “Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or wife or brothers or parents or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, 30 who will not receive many times more in this time, and in the age to come eternal life.”

**Christians, even unmarried sexually abstinent singles are able to bare children through the Gospel in that when a non-believer is made alive to God through The Gospel, they become a child of God.
How do followers of christ receive houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, lands, persecutions "NOW IN THIS TIME" and "IN THE AGE TO COME eternal life?"
**Christians are brought into the household of God and are the house of God.   As a child of God, they gain brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers in The Faith.  In the old covenant age (now in this time) and the new covenant age (in the age to come).  In the New Covenant Age, eternal life is available through The Gospel.
In regards to houses, Christ could be referring to what He said in the following 2 passages:

Matthew 10:9-13

English Standard Version (ESV)
Acquire no gold or silver or copper for your belts, 10 no bag for your journey, or two tunics or sandals or a staff, for the laborer deserves his food. 11 And whatever town or village you enter, find out who is worthy in it and stay there until you depart. 12 As you enter the house, greet it. 13 And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it, but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you.

Luke 10:4-12

English Standard Version (ESV)
Carry no moneybag, no knapsack, no sandals, and greet no one on the road. Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house!’ And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest upon him. But if not, it will return to you. And remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they provide, for the laborer deserves his wages. Do not go from house to house. Whenever you enter a town and they receive you, eat what is set before you. Heal the sick in it and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’ 10 But whenever you enter a town and they do not receive you, go into its streets and say, 11 ‘Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet we wipe off against you. Nevertheless know this, that the kingdom of God has come near.’ 12 I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town.

**Here is an example of saints being the household of God.
Ephesians 2:19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God,

**Another example of receiving houses is through fellowship with other saints in their homes.
